I mentioned previously that I was compiliing all the information in previous surveys of the monuments in the Old Cambusnethan Kirkyard near St. Michael's and Carbarns Road in Wishaw.  That compilation is now online at the Genealogical Collection at the Allen County Public Library, Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA.  I would be very glad if this helps someone's research and also glad for additions and corrections.  Possibly there are some DCs from 1855 until the New Kirkyard came into use.  I myself have one page from Scotlandspeople that has notations for different interments...one in each Kirkyard.

Here is the Link to the compilation:   https://www.genealogycenter.info/search_kirkhillburial.php

Please don't reply here, send me an email as below.

I recently published, with the original author's kind permission, the 1972 Brownlie transcription of the Old Cambusnethan Kirkyard Monumental transcriptions and included what i could find of additional transcriptions and lists of tombstones. It has name and place indices for 250 names.  The work will be available this summer online at the Allen County Public Library, at familysearch.org, and at various libraries and family history centers.  In the meantime, for those of you who are researching the area currently I would be glad to send the pdf, 88 pages.

Hello and thank you for the response.  Yes, our trip (barring corona virus snafus) is set for the last week in Jun.   I was thinking one day I would pick up or meet Iain George and then make an attempt to find the tombstone that, apparently , was found by mr brownlie in 1972.   Probably not too good a chance of finding, but certainly there are many kin in the newer Cambusnethan Cemetery in town.

Hi Judy, so sorry to have taken so long to reply, I have had a look and no, I don't have a picture of that particular stone. It may not even exist any more. Is your trip still going ahead as planned?
Kind regards ….. J.

I don't think I have asked this specifically before.   Do you have a photo of the tombstone of John Russell d 1884 and Margaret McAlpine, d 1857?   also on the stone are dau Marion, daug Marge, grandson William Gilchrist, and dau Janet.   this is #55 in the 1972 Brownlee transcription.

Thank you,

Love these Standing Stones also.   We will try to see some of the Roman relics also since grandson has studied Latin for several years and might enjoy them, I think.  Also the 5 year old can run !   :)

Beautiful!  Also found the Old Stone Circle south of Dykeshead on google street scene this morning, those look to be right beside the road.

Also, yes, a "yard" is the private property around a house in an urban setting usually.
