Hi, Does anyone have any info on who John's parents were. On the 1841 census there are a Thomas Leese born 1806, who could be his brother. There is also a William born 1771, wife is supposed to be Nancy, but i cannot find any marriages for a William and Nancy ot any births for a John or Thomas with parents of those names. On 1841 cencus William has no wife, and there are quite a few deaths between 1841 and 1851 so any could be William. Also no deaths for a Nancy Leese from 1837-1841. I have been looking at John and Prudence marriage in parish registers .
The witnesses are William and Ruth Bullock.
I did find a marriage of William Bullock to Ruth Leese in 1824 in Stoke. Wonder if maybe perhaps she is a relation/sibling of John?

Ancestry has a baptism of a John Leese on 4 May 1800 at Bagnall.  Father is William Leese.  Mother is Nancy Leese.
On the 1841 census there is a William Leese aged 71 living next door to John Leese and his family.


I have seen this baptism but there is also another John Leese in 1804 in Cheshire with same parents names.
But one to investigate further.

I share John Leese and Prudence as my great great grandparents, Edward Titus Leese and Mary Locker as great grandparents, and their son George as my grandfather. Have found the same problem with anyone before John. Have photographs of Edward Titus and Mary, the fish shop etc happy to share.

I would love to see some photos. I have seen one or 2 outside a shop but no idea who the people are.

As per previous reply.
It relates to the size of the farm.
Similar notation A R P are used on the 1841 tithe map records with National Library of Wales online collection.

Do you have findmypast newspaper access?
There are a couple of interesting articles dated Jan 1939 regarding the death and funeral of Clara Leese.
They detail the number of descendent she had including the number of children, grand children and great grand  children. One lists a number of her son's and daughters and the number of children they had. Makes interesting reading. I only have a paper copy to hand.

Only marriage I can see in Swansea is as follows on 25 Dec 1901
William Henry Smith Bennett age 24 (Mariner) son of Henry Bennett (Shipwright) to Lucy Elizabeth Richards age 19 dtr of William Richards (Haulier).

Parish register marriage entry is on Findmypast.

The memorial inscription survey does not contain plot numbers. It is just a record of all inscriptions at the time the survey was performed. It does contain a small map but that only references to the numbers assigned to each inscription. Does not reference original plot numbers. The references in the inscriptions are letter then number. There is no A582. Section A runs A1 to A248.
