Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: Marriage of Turner and Doyle

Thanks for that, no marriage certificate at this stage.

I have a copy of the damaged 1851 census so I will look there.

Cheers,  rchadz

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Marriage of Turner and Doyle
« on: Wednesday 24 February 16 02:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there,

So today I got a birth certificate for Ann Turner b 15th February 1850 in Leeds (Quarry Hill RD) born to William Turner who was an iron worker (b 1828 Newport, Shropshire) and Ellen Doyle (b 1830 Ashton-U-Lyne, Lancashire).  I can't find either of them on the 1851 census - but I expected them to still be in Leeds.  In 1861 and 1871 I can see them in Oldham.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

rchadz :)

I could probably eliminate Daniel & Alice Lees if I saw his will.  As mentioned, he was a wealthy mill owner.  I cannot make the connection but I know Edward had 3 or maybe 4 children out of wedlock to Betty Chadderton before marrying Ann (someone completely different).

Thanks everyone.

I knew that we just missed out on civil registration but I couldn't see the parish register so thanks for that KarenLee.  Daniel and Mary were my preferred parents but I need something more solid if I could.  I forgot that the father's occupation wasn't included in the parish register.

I did trace the Daniel's to the 1841 census and that is why I discounted the hatters.  Edward was a "roller turner" and had married and moved to Salford in 1841.

Can anyone help me find any details such as Edward's father's occupation from this marriage above?

I understand his father's name was Daniel, but there are three options, a weaver, a hatter and a mill owner that I need to decide between.

Many thanks,  rchadz

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: John William Hyde missing

Okay, thank you so much, this was a great find.

You are right - it was Garibaldi's father that was deceased, not Deborah's (even though when the certificate was typed the word deceased is adjacent to John William Hyde).

Okay - so the plot thickens.  He is still alive in 1908 but not on the 1901 or 1911 census.  Just need to find where he went to?

I will keep looking then.

Thanks again,  Rchadz  :)

Agreed - so if he died it is likely between 1897 and 1908.

Cheers  :)

Lancashire Lookup Requests / John William Hyde missing
« on: Monday 12 January 15 20:13 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I am looking for John William Hyde b. 1869 Ashton U Lyne, Lancashire, England and married to Betty Ann Farrow.  I cannot find his death registered in the UK records.

He is showing on the 1891 census with his wife and 2 children but thereafter disappeared from my searching.  On his daughter's marriage certificate 1908 he is is listed as deceased and on the 1901 and 1911 census Betty is listed as living with her parents John & Esther - status = married (not widowed).  Funnily enough a new son John pops in there in 1911 which is odd if the father was deceased prior to 1908.

Did he leave the UK?  Did he die without being registered?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards, rchadz  :)

Aberdeenshire / Re: Looking for the right George Angus
« on: Wednesday 10 July 13 08:17 BST (UK)  »
Thanks everyone for your help  :)  I have sent a request for poor records to the Aberdeen archives.

Any ideas of locating the birth certificate for Alexander Angus born in Udny about 1853?  Also, any ideas on locating a death record for Elizabeth Angus (wife of George) between 1853 and 1861?  Are there documents not available online I should be looking for?

I may look on the newspaper obit website.

Regards,  Rchadz
