Hi Marilyn!
As you've probably gathered - I'm not very good at using RootsChat and may have been sending you blank messages because of clicking the wrong buttons!  Yes - here is my e-mail address (too complicated to sort it out via Ancestry as I thought I might be able to do ...)

(*)

Look forward to swapping information about the Scotts of Glenkiln, not that I have very much relating to that side of my Scottish ancestors, but I live in hope!!

Jenny

Thanks for that. Any help would be a move in the right direction!  The branch of Scots I am currently researching may not be directly 'related' to my brand, but the Glenkiln connection makes its strong possibility.  Yes, please,I would like to be 'put in touch' with the Canadian connection!

I am currently researching my GGG grandfather, George Scott, a farmer who was born at Glenkiln in about 1805 and who married Margaret Mary Tinning, born 1813 at Tinwald House, Tinwald, Dumfries.  They were married at Tinwald House and their eldest daughter, Mary,  was baptised at Kirkmichael Church near Glenkiln before the family emigrated to USA - returning in time to be included on the 1851 census where other children, including my GG grandfather, William Young Scott, were registered as having been born in USA.  Anyone able to help here??

Dear Lilyliac

I am also researching my Hosack ancestors, by marriage.  My family were the Tinnings of Tinwald, my great-great-great Grandfather was James Tinning, the brother of Jean Carruthers Tinning who married John Hosack of Glengaber.  James' father, John Tinning was married to Mary /ann Graham of Cannonbie, Dumfrieshire and they had at least eight living children.

I have come to this late, so may have missed you ... hope not!

Jenny
