I haven't bypassed any information given by Muss or anyone else. There is a lot of information here to process.
Harcourt lied about his birth year to get into the Army so that means he wasn't born 1903. There is info on this thread that suggests he may have been born in 1906 because of end of Primary school age exams which he took.
Some family members think it could be possible his Mother may have been Myrtle mentioned by Lucy2. ( The 1913 NSW > Newcastle > electoral roll has a William Edward HARTNETT at the Exchange Hotel ... and May, Myrtle and a Henry HARTNETT residing at 443 Hunter Street west.)
That may be why he was brought up by William and Elizabeth. If that is so then William would be his Grandfather and Elizabeth his step Grandmother. But as yet we don't have proof of any of this or who his birth parents are. William E.had a first wife Agnes who could have been bringing Harcourt up as well until she died. Then he married Elizabeth.
Henry Hartnett could be William Edwards brother, as he has a brother Henry, at that time 1913 Electoral Roll, May would have been 25, and Myrtle 23.
I am still trying to piece all this together.
Be assured I am grateful for all the work you have all done!! Thank you Lucy22 and everyone for all you have done!!
Cheers
