Thanks Carole,

Yep, I appreciate living descendants can't be posted. The off chance that they were looking themselves.

I'll have a look at the Surname interests too.

Thanks

Evening all,

A long shot, but I'm looking for any further information or even better the family of Thomas Thomson.

I know that he enlisted into the Queen's Royal West Surrey regiment on the 30th of September 1940 but spent the majority of the war with the GHQ Liaison Regiment "Phantom".

I believe that he was a close friend of my grandad in North Africa and through Italy from early 1943 to the end of 1945 at least.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm Peterborough too.

Mainly the direct line heading as far back as possible. I've worked on some of the branches but without other confirmations I carried on elsewhere.

Drop me a pm, I can give you the details that I have.

My Wright's are from Stamford I think.

William Palmer and Ann Rat(d)ford is the furthest back I've managed so far. I need to find where they moved to Ramsey from.

So, I am:

William Palmer - Ann Ratford or Radford
Thomas Palmer - Rebecca Cook
William Palmer - Alissa Woolley
Matthew Palmer - Martha Taylor
Matthew Palmer - Emma Ball
Reginald Palmer - Elizabeth Wright.

Reg was my great-grandfather on my paternal Palmer line.

All Ramsey and Chatteris until my dad moved slightly further afield. Still Cambs though.

Excellent.

As Galium has said. Thomas, brother of John (father of David), was my 5x great grandfather, which I think makes us 6th cousins once removed :)

Thanks Galium.

Nick, are you related to David Palmer?

Huntingdonshire / Walter N Palmer, Ramsey

Hi all,

I have an issue. I have a Walter N Palmer on various census records as being born in Ramsey around 1873, along with all of his siblings.

I can't find a convincing birth record for him. All of his siblings have findable records, with the correct mothers maiden name of Rollings.

On the GRO there is an unnamed Palmer born in Ramsey, which I have bought the cert for. I now believe him to be Orlando Palmer, whose parents moved up north later and not Walter.

There is also a Walter born in 1875, with a mothers maiden of Dickerson. Which is also incorrect.

Any ideas why I would be struggling?
