Harry, that does make sense re the children getting baptized.

The link to Leith church - amazing!  Iím in Canada so probably not likely to ever get to Leith! Itís a beautiful church and cemetery.

Thank you everyone, it is appreciated.

Thanks Nell.  I am quite new to Scottish research - where would I find the Kirk Sessions records?

Having found a burial for Robert Meldrum in 1795 in Leith South I am wondering what the reference to the ďgroundĒ is in each entry?

It gives a very exact position i.e. 2 yards West of the S.W. Corner of McHovenís (spelling?) ground. Each entry shows the same detail in referring to a ďgroundĒ. Is it referring to another persons grave?

Robert died age 75, after marrying Isobel Russel in 1767. Their child John was baptized in 1781, after being born in 1768 - any idea why they would have waited so long to baptize him? There is a note on the entry stating his birth date.

Thanks, Linda

Again, many thanks for all your help.  Don, I will try the avenues you suggested as well.

I had no idea we could get such recent census records here in Canada. Iím waiting with much anticipation for the 1921 UK one to come out next year!

Wow, wow and wow again :) :) :)

I am stunned at what you have found - I didnít know where to start, having only researched UK records.
I had found Hannah living in the USA and sister Dorothy visiting her, but that was it.

Roderick McRae Deans born 1920 was my husbands uncle, and we came out to him and his wife Beryl when we emigrated from England in 1973. We actually lived at Greenbelt Drive initially! Beryl was my husbands fatherís sister - a War Bride.  They had no children and were so good to us. They both died in Tillsonburg, Ontario, so no need for a newspaper obit!

Rods father James had died before we came, but we did meet Gertrude.
Rod also had two sisters, and I am doing this for one of their children.

I did start by looking for Rods birth reg. in Saskatchewan, but got no where fast, so for you to come up with all this is stunning!

Thank you, so very much.

Thank you all so much. I never thought about Family Search! Iíve used it often for English research!

I found Gertrudes two sisters ďmoving onĒ to the USA - both with decent careers!

I donít have a subscription to Ancestry unfortunately.

Gertrudes son was my husbands uncle.
