There is a family tree for this Goderre family in Ottawa on Ancestry www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/59286163/person/332372022489/facts

Tom, you need a subs to be able to view this. Not sure if you have this or can access  :-\

Monica

Thank you for making me aware but I do not currently have the correct subs.

Thank you so much for this information, it is very much appreciated.

Just to add some context, I recently (by luck) spotted a listing on Ebay of several letters written to members of my family in Ayr from Canadian servicemen (and their mothers) thanking my family for providing lodgings etc.

Included with this particular letter I attached an extract from on this post, there was also a photo of Sam and his brother in their uniforms that Sam's mother had sent with the letter, so am really pleased I can do some more research now the surname has been kindly deciphered!

« on: Thursday 18 August 22 16:30 BST (UK)  »

Ah that's interesting hear and not just me then, its a shame I would be really interested to know the ethnicity region for my Irish roots, I have no-one on my tree I can tie there.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Irish DNA - No Ethnicity Region
« on: Thursday 18 August 22 15:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I took an Ancestry DNA test several years ago and every time there has been an update I have consistently had a good one fifth of my DNA come up as Irish, however even with the recent update I still have no ethnicity region breakdown.

Everyone else I know who has Irish in their results has an ethnicity region shown and it is spot on with what they know of where their family came from, I have even had a higher percent of Irish DNA in my results than someone who has got their ethnicity region provided.

Another update has been and gone and still only says 'Ireland' and the percentage..  :(

Thanks for the additional assistance and comments, I grew up in Walkern and know this shop had been run by a family called Kitcheners for whom quite a bit of info is known, it's just the Ellicott and Peacock ownership which is the nut that's needed to be cracked, as to when they came in and how long they were there and their first names.  Ellicott does not seem to be a hugely common name, but even running digital newspaper searching doesn't tie that name to the village.

Fantastic, thank you very much , so we have William Henry Ellicott and Francis Peacock.  :)
