Hello Diego
Now I understand. Your mother is my husband's cousin.
Can you contact me offlist on axolotls <at> grapevine.com.au
I can't really add to Geoffrey's exploits but your timing is rather unfortunate as I just took all that I could find out to the printer a few weeks ago! Better late than never

Hope to hear soon

Are you still researching the Wood line in Argentina? My family connection is with James Wood who inherited Huechahue so I guess a nephew of Geoffrey Wood.

For Sale / Wanted / Events / Professional researcher wanted in France
« on: Tuesday 02 February 16 03:08 GMT (UK)  »
I have a friend who would like to have someone do some research in France. She has some information but there seem to be quite a lot of loose ends with multiple marriages.
Can anyone recommend a professional researcher for her? The area of interest is Criel, in Oise.

Many thanks

Craig I tried to contact you using an old email address I found. No reply so perhaps it no longer exists. I am trying to sort out the family of Isabella Robertson McInnes whose second marriage was to Wiliam Graburn. I believe you are a descendant of this pair? I am descended from Isabella's sister. Would lik to make contact, if possible.

Thanks

Australia / Re: Ellen COCHRANE, teacher, 1909 Bruthen, Victoria

Thanks one and all. Ellen LOOKS to be a red herring but it would be confirmed by having her date of birth from the teacher records. If no one is going that way, I might get there in October when we dash through Melbourne en route to Ballarat.

Australia / Ellen COCHRANE, teacher, 1909 Bruthen, Victoria
« on: Thursday 22 January 15 04:41 GMT (UK)  »
I was wondering if anyone who is visiting the Public Record Office would be kind enough to consult the microfilm copies of the Teacher Record Books for Ellen Cochrane, Teacher Record Number 12301 who was appointed to Bruthen in 1909, see
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/91883980?searchTerm=%22cochrane%22&searchLimits=l-state=Victoria
Her date of birth and place of birth if possible would be useful also appointments before/after Bruthen. Trying to eliminate her from another Cochrane family in Bruthen - all the names show up together on the 1909 Census record.

Many thanks in advance if someone has the time and energy to pursue this.

I wouldn't put much stead in the marriage to old Percy either.  I can't find what happened to her "first husband" Michael Kelly - there are too many to know which one it is.  But if he didn't die, then she would have still been married to him.

She died at 50 Exhibition st, so must have been living with her daughters.  The informant is listed as an authorised agent.  The information must have been given by the daughters so maybe they thought she had married Percy or maybe they did just sanitise her history?

It lists her children as the three with Percy and Catherine that she had with Jack Dow in 1873.

She and the 2 daughters are buried at New Cheltenham Cemetery.  I have paid to join their site so that I can see the listing and whether they have headstones, photos or inscriptions.  I am waiting for them to send me my log in details. If I find anything from them, I'll let you know!

Mosher this is an old thread now but Mixo has just queried something and I cannot see the answer here. Hoping you might know.

The electoral roll for 1909 for Bruthen shows the following Cochranes:
Anastasia, home duties
Catherine, home duties
Elizabeth, housemaid
Ellen, schoolteacher
Percy, labourer
Sarah, waitress

Do you have any idea who Ellen Cochrane is? Could she be Anastasia's daughter from her earlier relationships? Or Percival's wife?

I have a Sarah Moffatt said to have been born at Lowick in 1796 (see 1851 Census) She married a John White but I don't have a birth record or a marriage record for her.
