Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Fountain Inn 1841 census

A massive thank you for all the time and effort you have put in on this problem. Unfortunately there are too many Thomas Coles and I have too little information to make a positive tie in
But it certainly isn't through lack of trying!

Thanks and good wishes to you all

First of all, thank you very much to all who responded to my cry for help, it is much appreciated.
The definite point in my research is a birth certificate for Martha Cole (My GGrandmother)  born 13 Mar 1842. Birth place given as 15 Arcade : Father ; Thomas Cole publican : Mother ; Mary Barnes Cole ,Fountain Inn Cheltenham.

Now, though I have Martha and her brother and sister showing up in the 1851 census as lodgers in Church Street, Charlton Kings , I can find no evidence of Thomas and Mary other than on the birth certificate.

Research has confirmed the existence of the inn and his landlordship, also the existence of the Arcade. BUT I cannot find any reference to them in the 1841 census. Neither does the marriage show up in BMD's. There is the possibility that, owing to her use of her maiden name as well as Cole on the BC, that they were not actually married more partners; but that is salacious supposition on my part.

At the moment this is a complete dead end which could be opened with the information on either address

Thanks again and best regards

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Fountain Inn 1841 census

Please can someone help me to find the entry on the 1841 census for the Fountain Inn. The address is 3 Northwick Place on the Upper Bath Road. The people I am looking for are Thomas Cole and Mary (possibly Barnes ) his "wife" . They also list their address as 15 the Arcade . This was a small lane on the site of the present St Margarets Road
I have trawled through the census for many lonely hours to no avail for both of these entries so if anyone can help I shall be extremely grateful

1) On the banns she is designated as " of this parish"

2) The witnesses are William Chatfield and Ann Young

Hope this helps

I am researching my ancestors who settled in Weald village in about 1800. William Austen (born 1777 in or near Leigh Kent) married Sarah Chatfield in Leigh parish church Sep 15 1805. They next appear in the 1841 census living in Weald. They had three sons William , Edmund and John.

I have extensive ancestry post 1800 and would like to hear from anyone researching Austen, Jeffery,Bunyan or Bignold

Most of all I'd like to know where old William was bornregards to all
