Re the impressive brick building
Im told that it used to be an old watch factory in the early 1900s, and that there is a facebook group that mentions it as well.

Thanks for the comments.
My understanding is the older houses in that area were demolished in the late 50's/early60's.
(area around 71 Gloucester Rd anyway)   Update - some of the houses, not all
Just wondered if anyone could confirm that, or the date
I have a picture of me as a baby around 1958 in the back of what looks like the older building with relatives  (typical older victorian 'working class' structure).
and Im told they moved out around that time when the area was redeveloped.

Looking at Google streetview. Look like houses in the numbers 50's and 80' are still original, so maybe was just a small portion redeveloped.
Update - the numbers 61 and 77 look original with decorative pattern just below the eaves.

Extra Q - The impressive 'access self storage' unit opposite, in an old brick building with stone sign with "Office" on it,  looks interesting. Anyone know what it was originally?

Anyone know anything about the old Gloucester Road in Croydon that was demolished / rebuild in the 1950's?

Apparently there was a glitch, and some people like me, with expired subscriptions, were able to still see records that had been attached to their trees. But that is closed off now.
I did download copies of the important ones of course, but didn't bother on some recent (less important) ones
Will download when I next rejoin or when the next free period occurs

PS Big thumbs up to Ancestry for the occasional free access periods they do

When my Ancestry.com subscription ran out months ago I was still able to see census records etc that I had found and linked to while a member  (and had paid to have and KEEP that info). But now (after the latest free period) I cant access them anymore !
Has something changed here ?
I understand I cant see NEW records till I pay again
But I should be able to see records I have already paid for in the past.
That's how it used to work
(somehow it marked those records as already paid for, so you could view them again)

Lancashire / Blackpool electoral registers or similar 1946-present
« on: Thursday 07 January 16 16:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
Are there any Blackpool electoral registers or similar, or a way to look up people from 1946-present. Trying to find details of a long lost Uncle (Ronal H Cole b.1915 Bromley). Married Irene  G Hudson in Blackpool in 1946. Address was xx Montpelier Avenue. Daughter Irene M Cole born 1951. Have a likely married named for her from Ronald d.1980 cert, but don't want to publically state it for a living person (begins with H).
Can anyone help or point me in a suitable direction.
PS Ronald reported worked at British Leyland in Preston -- any workers or union records anywhere ?
Thanks
