The only death notification I found was for Lewis Wilton in a Bellfast paper. Where do I look for oiher papers?

In the 1861 census showing Major John Robert Wilton's family, two of the children were missing. I have recently found out why. While John was serving in St. Helier, Jersey, in 1860, son Lewis died from meningitis May, 1860, age three years, six months. His sister Margaret died from tuberculosis in October that year, at the age of fourteen years, six months. Whew! I did it!

Limerick / widows pension

Jane Wilton applied for the Widow's Pension in August 1821, then had to prove she was the wife of Lt. John Wilton of 53rd Regiment who died at Banganlone 20th August, 1820. The curator who married them (June 1, 1806) sent the information needed.  Can't locate if she received the pension.

Rosinish.  Yes, John died in India, I have that, but what I have does not mention his wife. Other children.. daughter Ruth born 1811, Rathkeal, Limerick, Ireland. That is also where John and Jane were married, 1 June !806. Jane born St. Helena, St. James Parish October 29, 1816, baptized 1December, 1816. A note says "Returned to England December 10, 1816." I wonder if they will show up in the English census of 1817, ( I goofed up earlier looking for 1811 census!) A son, John Robert was born Jan 29, 1819, Chatham, Kent, England. When Ruth was born John was a Lt., when Jane was born he was Lt. Adjutant. In 1821 Jane applied for a widow's pension. She had to prove she was his wife. The clergy who married them provided a letter saying he married them. Can't find what she received. She was still a widow when son John Robert became an ensign in the 11th of Foot (North Devinshire) 29 December 1838.

Trying to locate English census 1811 to see if Lt. John Wilton, wife Jane and daughters Ruth and Jane are in it. Found baptism record for daughter Jane in the Diocese of St Helena, Parish St James, Dec 1, 1816.  A note said Returned to England !0 Dec !816.

unfortunately not. Wonder if there would be a census to check. I am having a terrible time manoeuvring around in Rootschat.  I see a responce but often no way to reply. Was just lucky this time!

Hi Peedee,

I am a bit of a dinosaur with some forms of technology  ::) but I don't think luck really plays much of a role with answers here on RootsChat.  ;D

If you are logged in, you can answer.
Either go to the top of the thread, where the title is (in this case, john robert wilton in brussels 1881) and immediately above the thread title are 4 options: REPLY, NOTIFY, MARK UNREAD and PRINT.
Simply click on REPLY and the box will open in which you can write your reply.

The 4 options are also repeated at the bottom of the thread, to save you having to scroll up and down a lot.

Alternatively, if you want to reply to a specific answer, you can click on Quote, which appears on the right side of every reply. In this case, a window will appear with the quoted text from that answer. Add your reply under this quoted text. (But make sure you start your reply UNDER the quoted text, not in the middle of it! Otherwise everything gets muddled.)
id I get to you by trying quote?
