Hello
Just thought I'd jump in - I am related to Patrick's son John Thomas Barnes who married Elizabeth Deas. They are my maternal GGGrand parents.

I have information of Patrick's travels to the California Gold rush in the 1850's as well as a few newspaper articles about his run ins with the constabulary (quite a drinker!)

I also have photos and articles of his son John Thomas and Elizabeth Deas Radium Wedding Anniverary at Jesmond in Newcastle NSW Australia and in fact my now deceased mother remembered attending the event at an age of 5 or 6 years old!

Our lineage is Patrick Barnes - John Thomas Barnes - Daisy May Barnes m William Wheatman Clement - Lily Clement m Edward J Parker

Would be more than happy to share to anyone interested and help fill in a few blanks in each other's research.

Cheers
Sandi

Further investigation on the ship Plantagenet 1854 shows Joel and his parents and siblings arriving. So this is how he and Fanny met.

Hi Sue & Muss

Yes I do have 9 children listed for Joel & Fanny Wright.
The last child Louisa was born 2 months after Joel's death.
His death certificate states 2 males and 3 females living, 3 males deceased. Add Louisa and that's 9.

Muss - 2 issue resided in the Bulli area which ties in nicely with the John Williams Obit link you posted. Thank you :)

Joel & Fanny's issue:
Esther Elizabeth (Ann) Wright, was born in 1863 in Newcastle. She died in Apr 1941 in Lambton,
She married William Parker in 1885 - (my maternal gg grandparents)

James William Wright, was born in 1862 in Newcastle. He died in 1865

Alice Lavinia Lucy Jane Wright, was born in 1865 in Waratah. She died in 1942 in Summer Hill, New South Wales. She married James McBride in 1885

Mary Ellen Wright, was born in 1875 in Lambton. She died in 1956 in  Mayfield East. She married William Fryer Sample in 1896.

Arthur Charles Wright, was born in 1867 in Newcastle. He died in 1947 in Bulli Hospital, Bulli New South Wales. He married Emma Jane Halsey in 1891 in Lambton.

Albert Edward Wright, was born in 1870 in Newcastle. He died on 24 Mar 1875 in Lambton. Died of measles per Lambton District News

Sue,
I think you're right - correct address De Vitre St Lambton and details match.
Why would someone insert an ad like that?

I've found another one on my paternal side that placed a similar ad about her husband around the same era.

Thank you so much to all of you  :)
I am indebted to you all.

I will follow up on all these leads, starting with the marriage certificates, and will post any facts I find to let you know.

Thanks again, I can't believe how generous you all are :)

Thank you everyone for all your kind help.

I have the death cert of Joel Wright (attached) - Fanny's 1st marriage which lists Fanny as wife and place of marriage as Newcastle NSW.
I then confirmed this at NSW BDM - 2443/1861

Fanny Wright then married John Williams (BDM 4175/1878)

Her death details have been taken from:
Newcastle Morning Herald and Miners' Advocate (NSW : 1876 - 1954) , Tuesday 30 November 1915, page 6
Newcastle Morning Herald and Miners' Advocate (NSW : 1876 - 1954) , Thursday 28 November 1918, page 4

When I search I usually try name variations Gwyver, Giver, Gulver etc.

Thanks again everyone for helping me, I really appreciate it

Australia / Immigration - Fanny GUIVER
« on: Wednesday 21 May 14 13:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me. I have hit a brick wall with finding how my mothers 2nd great grandmother Fanny GUIVER arrived in Australia.

So far I've found out Fanny Guiver, born 1841 Hertforshire England died 28/11/1915 New Lambton NSW Australia.
Married 1) Joel Wright 1861 Newcastle NSW, 2) John Williams 1878 Lambton NSW

I've searched assisted, unassisted, convicts - just can't get a hint.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated

Cheers Sandra
