Northamptonshire / Re: Aldwincle parish registers for George (Eden) Jeffs

I don't know where "Eden" came from.
George Eden Jeff's born in 1839 is his nephew.

Did the nephew marry Elizabeth Pheasant?

You don't think it could be Misindexed? There is a John Weston indexed in Kingston 2a 156. Looking at the john croft mentioned as registered ticehurst, their death certificates start 2b

Edit it's not that one as he was 36

Susieroe I'd just learnt that many true  Romany families have Indian or Pakistani origins .

Helping a friend whose matches had caravan dwelling ancestors but they turned out not to be descended from the Romany line that some had on their trees . Ethnicity helped confirm that they were from a Welsh line with same surname !

brigidmac, I've only today received an email with your post, it seems I didn't keep up with the thread.
May I ask a long shot: is your friend from Leicester? My Mum remembered Grandma taking her to visit a relative in a caravan in Leicester circa 1920s. She told me definitely not gypsy but that there were beautiful things there like china and glass that I know Romanies collect. Did you ever hear of a caravan community in Leicester?

Susieroe
There were some in belgrave, Leicester at one time. From memory, some were fairground families.

A partial family tree coincidence. I was chatting to someone in the chat room, looking up bits as we went. It turns out that her grandad had lived with my 2 gt grandmas stepdad and her grandads aunts had my 3 gt grandmas niece stop with them on one census. It also turned out that one of the aunts married into a family that a distant relative of mine also married into. We haven't found anything that directly connects us yet tho

If you go down to where it says winder, it gives you the description.
It’s basically an industrial version of the home winder you found.
