Hi Maureen,
Yes me too. Are you related to the Gay and Martin families? I can send you some info if you wish. Ducie

Hi to everyone,
Sorry I have taken a while to answer all those lovely people who replied to my question. But have been checking to make sure it was the right information for me. The Martin family is on my fraternal side and I have been working very hard for my 3rd cousin and his tree. We have been searching and along with the information supplied, I believe these Martins are the correct ones. It is going to take a little more work, but as with all searches for the dead, it all takes time.  Once again many thanks for the help and will notify the post what has happened. From the land of Oz, Ducie.

Hi Carole,
I am trying to find out who Louis's father is and where born. I have looked in Britain everywhere but to no avail. I presume Marius Martin, a solicitor, was born in Europe ? and I know that Louis's wife was born in Switzerland (according to the family). After Louis died in 1970, Alice came to Australia and d. 1987 in Victoria Aust.  Her father was Alfred Gay but have not been able to find him as there are many Gays in the records. Louis' whole name is Alfred Henri Marius Louis Martin, known as Louis. Alices' whole name is Alice Marie Aline Gay.

Many thanks for any help you can give me. Regards Ducie.

Many thanks to sillgen and avm228 for their help. Actually William and Elizabeth had 2 children before they married. They were living in South Malling at the time of Elizabeth's death. Her date of death was stated as 12 May 1739 in the trial records. The children were baptised at St Thomas Cliffe. That was from the Parish Registers, I hired out a film from LDS. My 4 X great grandfather was the fifth child in the family.

Sussex / Elizabeth Hillman nee Standen
« on: Thursday 06 March 14 00:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hello listers,
I cannot find much about my 5th great grandmother Elizabeth Standen. On the old IGI it stated she was b.abt. 1698 Balcombe Sussex, no parents mentioned. She marr. 8 Apr 1719 at Lewes Sussex to William Ilman (or Hillman). They had 7 children. In the East Sussex Coroner's Records 1688-1838 Vol 89 entry 329. Elizabeth on 12 May 1739, was feloniously killed in her own home, by Sarah Goldsmith (wife of Joseph), and she was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter, she was burnt on the hand and then discharged. The children of Elizabeth gave evidence at the Grand Jury.
If someone may be able to help find who Elizabeth's parents were and would there be anything in the local newspapers and if so where we I get that information.
Many thanks, Ducie in Australia

Hi, I am looking for information regarding my husband's grandfather. We have a large (A3 size) certificate saying he belonged to Dixon Hartland Lodge No: 970 and is dated 17 Feb 1899.
His name was Fred Hood, and he lived in Kent at the time. Although he migrated to Australia in 1905 I was wondering if we may be able to obtain any information regarding his involvement with this Lodge.
