It is a record of Elizabetha's burial.

Sepult means buried. Filia means daughter. Fuit means "it was".

Thank you Elwyn. I can see Gilmour now you have suggested it. Any idea what the smaller writing says? I see Pauls "?"

Sarah (moderator). Is it possible to transfer this conversation to the Edinburgh page or do I have to redo? Thanks Anne McQueenie

That's a very good question Kay. The answer is "I don't know." :-\

I've come to the conclusion that I am barking up the wrong tree.
I am trying, in my round about way, to find the father / family of my Mary Arbuthnot who married Donald aka Daniel McPhail in 1784 in Edinburgh. The marriage says her father is "Robert Arbuthnot indweller in the Parish of Wymess." I don't think he is the Robert I asked about.
Thanks to all who tried to help me.

Hello and thank you for your help. The attached is a marriage in Edinburgh 1750. It says "Mercht in ?". Also what does nwp mean? I see it on the other marriages on the same page. And the last abbreviation, "...in ?."
