Glamorganshire / Re: Ffynnon Iago Fach Farm.

Excellent detective work, thanks v.much. I hadn't thought to look on the NLS OS website, I'd been looking at modern OS maps.  I found what looks to be the ruin of the farmhouse on Google Street View so sad to see it no longer exists as a house.

Glamorganshire / Ffynnon Iago Fach Farm.

Does anyone recognise the name of the farm, and more importantly the whereabouts on the ground? I think it's somewhere around Parc Slip, probably to the north of The Fountain on the B4281 and south of Llangynwyd. I've been looking on Google and OS Maps with no luck.

EDIT I've just found Ffynnon Iago Fawr (Big) Farm, just need to locate Fach (Small) Farm now. Fawr was found about half a mile north of Margam Opencast Coal Mine, N/NE of Kenfig Hill.

You could try looking here if/when you know the parish you need to search....... https://www.familysearch.org/search/image/index?owc=M625-XM9%3A160239801%3Fcc%3D1824688

Gosh, that's an awful lot of information you've managed to find, thank you very much. This'll keep me busy for a while.  :)

The Common Room / John the Daughter?
« on: Friday 21 December 18 15:42 GMT (UK)  »
I'm currently trawling through online Bishop's transcripts for Norfolk and found an entry for a John registered as a daughter. Now would I be correct in assuming her name was actually Joan rather than John? No connection to my family BTW, just saw the dried ink and curiosity has kicked in.

Here's the link to the parish record. Second entry down...... https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939X-DTVT-4?i=7&wc=M625-YW1%3A160239801%2C160561901%2C160243102%2C160239804&cc=1824688

The Common Room / Re: Buried days before baptism? Surely not?

The November date is for a baptism, the birth could have been many months (or even years) beforehand.  :)

Ah, interesting. I was thinking the church would be very keen to get a newborn baptised ASAP, and certainly within a month. I didn't think it could have been months or even years.
