There is a list of vessels involved in Operation Ariel online at:

http://ww2talk.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_id=64781

and a diary of events, listing ships and their movements etc.  at:

http://www.naval-history.net/xDKWDa-Aerial.htm

Apologies if this is already common knowledge.

Hi Chris

Universal suffrage, with voting rights for women (though not for those under 30), did not arrive in Britain until February 1918.

Women under 30 didn't get the vote until 1928.

Thanks for clarifying that.  Would a male tenant of rented accomodation have been entitled to vote in Municipal elections at this date?

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Electoral Register - Hampstead 1911-1915

I'm looking for a couple who were resident at 3 South Hill Park, Hampstead, in March 1913.  They were most probably tenants rather than owners, and may well not have been married.  Are they likely to appear in an Electoral Register for that period?  If so, can anyone do a look-up?

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 Wisbech Census

Just stumbled into this dscussion.  I have a Mary Ann Teeed, b. Wisbech 1879, was with Emma Ward (Widow) as Niece in 1881 Census at Boys Board School, Wisbech St. Peter, m. John Charles STANGER, Middlesbrough 1910.  John Charles was a brother of a potential ancestor, hence my passing interest.  Does she fit in the Pilot Teed saga?

For some reason that I still don't completely understand, my late father, a civilian with some sort of communications role, found himself in France after the Dunkirk evacuation, and ultimately escaped back to Blighty on "the last ship to leave St Malo" (his words).  I take this to mean part of the lesser-known "Operation Aerial" that recovered thousands of troops and civilians from the western French ports before they fell into German hands.  Are there any records of the ships involved, and can anyone actually identify "the last ship to leave St Malo".

If you could find:

Clara WAKE, d.1883

especially if it indicates her age/d.o.b., I'd be grateful.

Thanks

Carolanne

Thanks for that.

I  think the Sarah bur. 6 Jul 1869 was almost certainly James's wife!  She doesn't appear to be in the 1871 Census, but 2 children who were in the 1861 Census, plus 3 others born between 1862 and 1867 (the last a girl born some months after James's death), are there, scattered around in various places.

Sorry to impose - can I come back to you with some other names in due course?

Chris
