Thank you all for your replies. Based on the aforementioned children in Madras and later in Warwickshire, it would appear that my Catherine did not marry Corbett or was a Wilson by birth.

I attach some links into the marriage between my ancestor James Heppenstall and Catharine Corbett in Thurlby by Newark.

I think I've to re-start my search for Catharine and tie up her marriage to another Corbett elsewhere.....

I have these persons in my family tree.

Marriage of Catherine WILSON marrying a William CORBETT 12/4/1794 in
Madras Fort St George.
Ref British India Marriages Archive Ref N-2-2 Folio 231.

I would love to know more why these people were in India at time of marriage. What other sources should I be viewing online?

Thak you in advance.

It is good to see two people descended from the Furnandiz background connect here. I wish you all the best in your endeavours :)

Yes there are a lot of records on FamilySearch, but from what I remember they are only transcriptions and I don't like to rely on them unless I have to. FindMyPast has the original documents for many, although some of those are also only transcriptions, particularly the later ones (after circa 1920). The records for Madras for 1800-1920 were particularly complete when I was looking and generally in very good condition.

The names, dates and cities of interest would be useful if you have them.

The date of the marriage was before 1799, I'm trying to find out more about Catharine Corbett, where she came from in the first place, how she got to be in Thurlby etc before marrying my ancestor.

Does anyone know where to access British India Marriages or has access to records to help me look up on details of a marriage I'm looking into?

Has anyone researched into this family? It would appear my ancestor Joseph b. 1789 Madeira settled in Hull and married Jane Bravender/Bravener.

It is really fascinating to see them.

I had the priviledge to see them when I went to visit St Germain's Church, this is where my ancestor James Heppenstall married Catharine Corbett (widow of the Thurlby parish) in 1799.

Thurlby Hall next door is the former home of the Bromheads  - see link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thurlby,_North_Kesteven
