Sounds like a productive day Roobarb.... how annoying having to rewash your towels.... funnily enough I had towels out today too!.... hope your waterproof trainers work out ok...

My day
I had set my alarm just to make sure Iíd wake up early enough...I neednít have bothered as a friend sent me a WhatsApp at 7-15 am! I shall have to have words with her! Got up after a little while and showered...
Quite chilly when I got outside but sunny... not quite so much traffic around
off out to do shopping... Lidl first pretty quiet... used my Lidl app  - only realised afterwards should have downloaded the £5 off voucher before finishing the transaction.... silly dope! Runs out in 2 days so going to miss out as not going to go again just to claim it! Interesting to see theyíre stack of toilet rolls was very reduced... people panic buying again... whatís the matter with them for heavens sake!...
Popped in to the chemist for few items including new pair of reading glasses.... either Iím doing too much reading, my eyes are worse than I thought or the cheap ones Iíve got havenít got enough magnification in them....this new pair seem ok.. my eyes seem to vary from one day to the next!
Went to Waitrose for my c n c then to green grocers and home.....
Unload it all isolate most in the garage... transfer some other bits to different containers or sanitize the rest... it always seem to take an eternity to do....
OH in process of bread making.... wonít mind late lunch today as didnít have a cuppa or breakfast until about 10.30!....sat in the conservatory where it was nice and warm...
Washing out on the line....
Decided to go and cut out as many face coverings as I could from 🌈 scraps.... managed to get about 40+ ....
Bread ready so had usual, cheese, pickles and tomatoes of course... with every meal... he does bake a good loaf itís so delicious.... donít tell him or heíll get too big headed! ... no he wonít not that sort of person!
Decided to sweep patio as lots of leaves swirling around, dead headed plants... all the Asters are flowing now looking lovely and bright... purples, lilacs, pinks...
Canít believe even the hydrangea still has its flowers, theyíve been such a variety of shades throughout the summer....
Blooming pigeons already eaten two of cabbage planted so we put netting over one lot and strung up cdís on string across others...
Couldnít believe we both heard the owls! During the daytime most unusual and quite close by... heard them the other day but thought I must be mistaken but OH had heard them too..
Incredible that the cardoon has got two new flower heads forming... its been cut back and usually regrows quite quickly with leaves but never flower heads at this time of year...
OH mowed front lawn....
Friend phoned had lovely chat, sheís taken 10 days hols from her job at Gatwick... certainly deserves it ...  and beeN playing lots of golf! She usually goes to Oz to visit her sister in Perth in September so sad sheís missing out this year...
More sewing half way through final three tops... should be done tomorrow then just face coverings to do...
We had gammon steaks for dinner with lots of veg and pots... almost at the end of our pots now lasted well...
Watched tv.... university challenge.... got quite a few between us... nice to see Warwick won against Oxford!
Better day today... weather brighter and got more done ....

Carol & Jeff Iíve been thinking about you both during these times youíre going through with your families.... hard enough to bear under normal circumstances let alone under these trying times...
Carol - Sorry your op was cancelled but at least you were able to visit your Son which itself must have been hard to see him suffering.... one can only hope that the treatment will bring him some relief...good luck with your own op next week...

Jeff - Despite the sad times To hear that you were able to renew your vows in the church you married in must have been special and wall to wall sunshine adding to your day... Friday will be a difficult day for you all but hope you know that all on RC will be thinking about you and although I donít know you personally I will be thinking about you...

Brrrrr..... Iím thinking if you RTL  sitting in a drafty bus station  and hoping your connection arrived quickly... hope itís better for you in the morning.

My Roobarb well done for braving the chilly weather to go out for a walk! Always good to get indoor chores done too...

It was quite sunny this morning and windy so decided to put some washing on ...
After breakfast sat and read the Sunday papers For a while... article about the return if Spitting Images...always thought the first series were very good... sadly this ones going to be on britbox and you need a sub for it.... pity...
Decided to have a vacuum round and clean the bathrooms.... empty bins etc ....all exciting stuff...
After lunch went to do some sewing for a while...
oH out mowing back lawns and using his new hedge trimmer to deal with the yew hedge at the top of the garden... sliced through it all like butter in no time... had a tidy up picked more raspberries and leeks... heís planted out winter cabbage...
Off he went to the skip to get rid of garden rubbish...
Finished of next three tops...
heard hammering and shouting realised it was OH.. Iíd locked/chained all doors and he couldnít get in... or make me hear as the centre of the doorbell has disappeared... he found the spring but not the pusher bit... Hard to find little brass bit on gravel!... much muttering as itís all wired in and been there since 1992....
Dinner was roast chicken, pots, leeks, stuffing and green vegs and gravy... very nice on a chilly evening...
Watched The big dig with Alice Roberts about grave yards in London and Birmingham on HS2 line... following some Peoples story lines... think might have seen it before or maybe that was the plague pits from Crossrail... fascinating what they find...
Did some knitting... sewed up little cardi and started another little blanket...
Shopping day tomorrow morning so up and out early...
Pretty mundane day really... nice to get in the garden for a while despite the wind..

The Stay Safe Board / Diary - Saturday 26th September
« on: Sunday 27 September 20 00:41 BST (UK)  »
Well looks like everyone else has retired early... had enough.... nothing to report...

Today has passed just like  any other day throughout this inflicted isolation... deadly dull...totally fed up....whereís it all going to end.... hundred of students locked in their uni accommodation to keep them off the streets, having let them go in the first place... madness... or is it a ploy to shock them all into behaving responsibly by letting them see how life has been for others shut away from family and friends... ok Iím ready to wake up from this nightmare now... totally had enough... some retirement! There must be lots of people like me out there wondering the same thing...

And so to what did I do today.... not much... windy, chilly weather...OH out golfing .. after breakfast I did an hours yogalates...
Best thing next was to listen to the radio and do some more sewing...Amy questions followed by any answers.... turned it off in the end after listening to people speaking about not visiting family in care homes and how upsetting it is for all concerned... couldNít listen too upsetting... although Iím sorry my mums not around Iím thankful sheís not had to go through all this...
Late lunch when OH arrived home... better round today so heís happier...
First four scrubs finished... they look bright and cheerful...
Daughter FaceTimed been out in the park all afternoon With the boys and she was frozen... daft girl... youngest grandson practicing writing his letter to Santa! Eldest one reading his book on birds and telling us all the facts about red kites, buzzards, kestrels... all of which heís seen when up with us... Got 10/10 in his spelling test..
First full week at school for youngest and itís been good! Come home shattered every day! Lovely to chat to them miss them despite having seen them last w/e..
More sewing almost finished next three tops...
OH cooked dinner tonight... steak, chips and vegs...always tasty...
Watched tv... thatís it for another day...
Hope others have had a better one...

Itís quite incredible that the police donít seem to do anything.... free country to speak out and all that... some think itís a big hoax or as I heard one interviewed say... itís been blown out of proportion..... really?
One can only behave as we think fit to save ourselves and our families.... we have seen our family three times in 7 months ... first time outside all day ... second time daughter and grandsons to stay... theyíve isolated themselves daughters not set foot in a shop since March.... third visit just overnight... they use their own bathroom and separate downstairs loo and outside all day to eat as well... I feel weíve all behaved as we should .... life has to have some normality within the guidelines weíve been given...
I do feel for all these youngsters now at uni.... why didnít the powers that be just do online learning for the first term or two if necessary then all this situation wouldn't have occurred... all locked up ...
Sorry I digress from topic title...

Good luck LM... hope all goes well at the jewellers and your finger will feel so much better but not necessarily your heart....Iím sure it will all be rectified for a satisfactory outcome... Iíll. e thinking of you...

Viktoria- we have a little local hardware store and they are so helpful... Iím very inclined these days to use all,our local shops where possible, they work so hard and definitely deserve to still be standing...back to how things used to be before all the big supermarkets arrived....
I remember when I stayed with my Aunt in Norbury ( Sth of the Thames for those not sure where it is) we would go,out on a Saturday morning leaving the front door unlocked...in summer she pulled a striped curtain across it ( dog sat dutifully in the hall behind the curtain and never once thought of venturing further) walk down to the high street and visit the first Sainsburyís that arrived.... not self service... counters either side... assistants in long white aprons and you bought what you needed.... butter from a large block that was then patted into shape with grooved wooden paddles, ham cut from the bone, cheese cut from a large block with a cheese wire.. all wrapped in grease proof paper and given to you in brown paper bag... I remember it like yesterday ....how times have changed! She wore her hat and gloves whenever we went out where ever we were going! Politeness was the order of the day and no pushing, shoving, shouting, rudeness etc...

Try not to get blown away with your washing whilst attaching it to the line .....
Have a good day...Iím off to do more sewing....

RTL - I tend to agree with the bus driver in his comments ....of course heís probably behind a screen on the bus whereas with his son he wouldnít be... non the less itís daft! Like teachers with all those children and yet not able to see family... itís no wonder people just give up... but then the lines have to be drawn somewhere I suppose and I certainly wouldnít want to be the one making those decisions!!
Thank you for your kind comments...I love doing it and it helps me to keep sane and not loose too many scrabble games 😂😂... I wish I could post on here the finished 🌈 scrubs so you can all see how uplifting the colours look... we know the staff at Papworth weíre delighted with them...

I too have heard about putting lids of toilet seats down when flushing... quite staggering how far droplets can go... fortunately none of our looks are near wash basins and tooth brushes have covers on anyway .... Iíve managed to train my OH never to leave the lid up at all ...hate to walk into a bathroom and see lids up...we all have our little bet noirs!

Hope you both have a lovely day... sunshine here so far...

Mowsehowse - well I know custard probably isnít your first choice of words! Probably better than some I could think of though 😬...
If I had done something like that Iíd be lucky to still be alive..... but when men do somehow itís altogether different.....
Look on the bright side at least youíll get a new carpet  even if you didnít want one in the first place ....
