Thanks Jamjar and Daisy for your replies.

I had tried the internet and google maps to an avail, ruling out Plant Glas due to its location.
It's interesting to note the spelling of the birth place between the different genealogy sites when transcribed - Panglace. Pan Glace and Penglais.

Due to the proximity of Mainstone I think Plantglas is the most likely birth place for Elizabeth. Her siblings have all just used Mainstone

Thanks also Gadget for the reminder that the Parish of Mainstone spans the England/Wales boarder.

I think question(s) answered; in such a short amount of time it's fantastic. Thank you all again.

Elizabeth daughter of Evan and Elizabeth WOOSNAM was baptized 23 March 1788 at Mainstone, Shropshire.

1820 Elizabeth WOOSNAM marries Thomas WOOD in Lydbury North, Shropshire.

1841 Census  - Eliza and Thomas WOOD are residing in Lydbury, Shropshire and says both were born in the County with their daughter Eliza.

1842 Thomas WOOD dies.

1851 Census - Elizabeth WOOD is a Widow, aged 63 (born abt 1788) residing Lydbury North. Where born - Montgomery, Panglace.

1857 - Elizabeth WOOD marries Edward THOMAS in the parish of Lydbury North. Condition is shown as Widow and father is Evan WOOSNAM.

1861 Census - Edward and Elizabeth (aged 72, born abt 1789) THOMAS are residing at Lydbury North. Where born - Montgomery Panglace

With the exception of birth town, it seems safe to presume Elizabeth is the same person in the 6 documents?

Can anyone let me know: is there still/was there a Panglace in Montgomeryshire?
if so, where is it? Is it far from Mainstone?

Hi Rachel,

There is a baptism record for Anne CHILMICK (Bap. 1800 in Chirbury Shopshire, Father William, Mother Margaret).
Anne CHILMICK married Evan WOOSNAM in 1823. In signing her name it is definitely an 'i' not an 'e' in her name.
Evan's wife Anne, was buried in 1843 aged 43 making her DOB 1800.

Makes you wonder why Margaret's middle name is spelt Chelmick? Though I do recall both spellings being used on different documents relating to the one person.

If I find an Anne/Sarah link I'll let you know.

Hi Rachel,

As your post is over 10 years ago I'm assuming (and I know one should not do so) you have found the information you requested? I was glad to see that you had recently been active on the site, hence my reply/question.

I am descended from Evan WOOSNAM baptized on 6 May 1799 at Mainstone. Name has been transcribed as WOSANHAM. Parents were Evan WOOSNAM and Elizabeth WEAVER. His DOB is shown as 1801 on the 1841 Census.
Does this match with your request?

If so, have you been able to find out anything about Evan (the father)? I have info of an Evan buried on 28 Jul 1833 at Bishop's Castle, aged 78 which make birth about 1755 but so far unsuccessful in finding any records to take my search back any further or to indicate his parents.

Thanks Alberbury. The 1639 Thomas Chelmeck information is new to me. I haven't had time to see where the Jane Woosnam information fits in with what I have.

Hi Wales Girl,
Sorry to disappoint but I am not descended from one of Evan & Annes children but rather from Cecil Clarence WOOSNAM who is a child of Evan's from his second mariage to Elizabeth WILLIAMS. But have included all Evan's children in my research which has led me off on many tangents and my initial question on the chat line.

Hi Rachel,
I am only new to RootsChat and given the age of you post, you may have additional information you were after, to which I am probably not able to add any more. I am not a descendant of William WOOSNAM but I am a descendant of Evan WOOSNAM (b1796-1800 d 1864). Evan WOOSNAM married Anne CHILMICK in 1823. I have noticed that spelling changes between CHILMICK and CHELMICK. Somehwere along the line I think there must be links between William and Evan WOOSNAM and Sarah and Anne CHILMICK? To date I haven't been able to find such links. Have you been able to confirm William's parents?
Cheers Deb
