Armed Forces / Re: grand dad frank william sayers
« on: Saturday 18 October 14 00:16 BST (UK)  »
hello Alice -Maria
i wasnt aware of my grand dad having a northern accent, we are all english, & he spoke the same has us all, ive had a cousin do a bit of research, & it seems his name might be false, plus date of birth & place of birth, so ive got a real naughty g/father, a girl friend in each port has they say, so we may never get the truth, it  also the day he wed my nana ,the police came around the next day, to say he was already married, so dont know what happened then, but he did marry a couple more times, after my nana died

Armed Forces / grand dad frank william sayers
« on: Sunday 20 July 14 05:25 BST (UK)  »
hello, ive been searching for info on my grand-dad for many years, he just doesnt exist in the births in England,  he married 3 times  , could be more, & recently found an entry online could be my grand dad in british royal air force Airmen services records 1912-30,

It says frank sayers birth year 1899, birth place lancashire, attestation year 1919 . service number 340356 ,occup ships cook,,

he never told us were he was born ,nor anything to do with his parents, other than he ran away from home, to get away from a cruel fisherman father,  so  otherwise in the dark, & maybe he has changed his age to get into the airforce, ,if so didnt you have to have a birth cert , or over looked back then,  if anyone could help, i would be very grateful

regards valerie ann

hello I havent been on rootschat for some time, I have been stuck on my ggg /father James Gordon born between 1823-29, i dont have any birth cert,& have only the census 1851-1871  by census he was born inverurie Aberdeen , can anyone have a answer,, does Inverurie cover different villiages & towns please , he wed to Robina in clackmannanshire,& ive followed the family over the years,& disappointed to find his parents ,put has blank, unknown, he wed by banns too, so ive hit a brick wall, his 1st son was also James, & all my grandparents ,on the Gordon side were also James Gordon ,coalminers, i havent found him in the 1841 cencus either, but he must have been near to clackmannan James is my direct line,&  i feel james & janet may have been his parents, taking by the naming of children , would he put inverurie has his birth,to cover his village at the time, i found a william gordon working at the gordons of inverurie,  his wife was Janet, so 20 years on still dont know ,

Clackmannanshire / 1871 census tillicoultry clackmannan
« on: Friday 20 June 08 03:51 BST (UK)  »
My cousin sent me from ancestry, a 1871 census, this is the only census I;ve never viewed, & with my James Gordon who on the census is now 55yrs ,so born abt 1816,in other census;s hes 5-7 yrs older, the bonus is theres awilliam gordon aged 78,(born abt 1793), & a mary 70yrs )born abt 1801),-I would dearly love to know where they were both born,& are they the parents of my James, James died jul 1871 & on his death cert, he was put at 50 yrs & parents unknown, so 16 years later i might have a lead? the census

says, Tillicoultry clkmn, Address 20 town foot,-- ED 6, Household Schedule 119, line 4,- roll cssct1871_80
thanks valerieann
