The Common Room / Can anyone help find inquest in newspaper?
« on: Sunday 27 August 23 18:10 BST (UK)  »
Hi all ever since I received my ancestors death certificate several years ago that stated there was in inquest into her death that concluded a verdict of 'misadventure' I have been searching for the report of the inquest in the newspapers to no luck, and wondered if anyone else might have some luck finding it for me? (fresh eyes etc) I have a subscription to british newspaper archives so if found I can look it up there just struggling to find it.

Details:
Her name was Elizabeth Webb she died 9th Oct 1934 in Kingston Upon Thames, lived at 22 Hudson Road Kingston. The death certificate states cause of death as syncope + shock during administration of chloroform (2 parts) + ether (3 parts) for operation for acute intestinal obstruction. p.m misadventure

Thank you in advance

This is a more likely death, if she is somewhere in the 1851 census:
GRO website
Sarah Webb age 65  in 1853 June quarter Reading

or this if she is good at avoiding 2 censuses:
Sarah Webb age 79 in June quarter 1869 Reading.

And this:
Sarah Webb age 95 in September quarter 1881  Reading
(Added here: NOT this one, she is from Culham in 1881 census and probably Richard's widow from 1871)

There is a Sarah Webb in 1861 census who is a widow (not wife) age 71 and formerly a weaver with other widows in Reading, St Mary, so that 1869 death?

Thank you I will take a look at these :)

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Barnwood Asylum
« on: Friday 01 September 17 04:07 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for any information on my 4th great-grandfather's time in Barnwood Asylum

His name was Henry Godsell born about 1819ish

Some information I have discovered it appears he was admitted to Barnwood Asylum on 7th Oct 1869 and was there until his death on the 10th April 1880

I would love to find out more about why he was there and he's time there, but I live too far away to search the records myself if anyone can help I would be very grateful

Thank you

Thank you I hadn't thought about remarriage I will look into that

She isn't with john on the 1841 census she is on her own with her 4 children which is why I believe he died before official records started as can't find him anywhere

Thank you the index I believed to be her was the reading one but it didnt state an age so yes that does appear to be the wrong one as she would have been about 56 then

Looks like its back to the drawing board to see where she went after the 1841 census thank you :)

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Can anyone help? John Webb and Sarah Burton

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me locate what happened next to 2 of my ancestors?

John Webb was born approx 1791 I believe in Reading Berkshire but have no trace of him I believe he must have died before official records began but can't find him and am not near Berkshire to search their family record center

I found a record showing he married Sarah Burton 29 May 1819 but no other details

I have found they had 4 children (that I know off) : James (my link) b.1821, Ann b.1826, Caroline b. 1828, Mary b. 1832

Sarah I have found on the 1841 census and I have a death index for her showing she died 1st quarter 1847 (or possibly late 1846) I will be ordering that soon but I would like if possibly to find where she was buried

If anyone can help I would be very grateful I hope to come to Reading myself at soon point but no idea when I will be able to do that
