Could his birth be registered under variation of surname ie Cavanagh.
Have you any details on employment for John ?

National Census 1901 and 1911 are worth a look, you may find whole family.

Could the Aunt Mrs Mary Keogh be his Grandaunt, but referred to as Aunt.

Is it possible that two Lloyds with similar ages were soldiers.

The Common Room / Re: "Who Do You Think You Are", Series 14: #6 Lulu

I enjoyed this episode a lot. I particularly liked the Register of foster care.
What I found hard to believe was her grandfathers work history.
He seemed to get re employed by same firm over and over again, despite his prison history.

I could understand the Protestant versus Poor Catholic, its no wonder both families were against such a marriage. Surprised at the Women having their own Orange Lodge
When Lulus grandmother disappeared, I think she was in a Psychiatric Hospital.
She may have had a breakdown. The grandmother was caught in a very tough situation.
Large family of young children and a husband that was in & out of prison and work.

Hi - I am trying to find records for Michael Doherty and Hannah Gibbons - I don't have a lot to go on.  I beleive they had children Patrick Doherty, Hugh Doherty and William J - there maybe further children.  The children mentioned moved to Australia
Any help of information with this would be great - thank you all

Do you have a possible address for your Doherty's or year that they traveled to Australia
The surname Doherty is plentiful around Ireland

It seems they were all originally from Leggetts Rath so maybe there is a churchyard there

Leggettsrath is a townland in St John's Parish close to Kilkenny

To me His Granny was the highlight and the clogdancer.
Granny looked so well and great she was living with family at 100.

I had a cousin who worked in same part of a government department, many miles from either of our birthplaces. She was retired 30 years from that Office before I joined it.
She was in her 90's when I did meet her.

The Common Room / Re: "Who Do You Think You Are", Series 14: #1 Charles Dance

This episode of Charles Dance was very good.
Surprising how little he knew of his parents. The South Africa part was a revelation.
I loved the contents of the old trunk.
To reach his age and not know you had a half sister is unusual. Charles did not even suspect there were family in South Africa. I wonder did Charles mother know that she had a stepdaughter.
I liked the part about his mother's Belgium roots

Well worth watching
