Durham Lookup Requests / Re: 1871 address lookup - Throston?
« on: Tuesday 27 October 20 22:44 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone tell who was living at  75 Frederick Street, Throston in 1871? I'm looking for a Margaret Scott. I know she had a child there, out of wedlock, in 1873.

Thanks
Michael

Hi Micheal
I came across this thread when looking for the same Margaret Scott.Who had a baby called Hunter scott who is my grandmas grandfather.

I just got Hunters birth certificate and thats where I found address. Just wondering if you are a releative and if we can help each other out with any further information?

Well with the Africa Star as well as the France and Germany Star he certainly saw a lot of service.  If you send for his service record that should answer some of your questions.  You could then set about finding a replacement Africa Star and mounting the medals as they should be worn.  there is no shortage of expert advice on this site if you need help interpreting the jargon on the service record.

Clive

Thanks Clive
I found some old documents with what I think is his service number so will see if I can get the records 👍👍

Yes.  Agreed.  Still puzzled about the Africa Star ribbon on the bar but no medal.  Did these belong to the same person?

Yeah as far as my nan is aware they all belonged to her father 👍

Links to Wikipedia pages:

They should be worn in the sequence as above.

Thankyou very much, I shall have a read through the information you have given. Much appreciated. I wonder if my great grandad had gotten the medal ribbons muddled or if a family member has accidently changed them?

Hi there,
I'm just gathering some information on my great grandad John Arthur etherington scott (b.1906 d.1984) and my nan found his medals. I was just wondering what they mean or how to find out more. I havn't gotten his service records yet but did read the post about aquiring them but thought I could ask about the medals first. All I know is that he was in the army but not sure what his rank was or anything.

Thanks

Joanne
