Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Help with Latin translation of marriage bond

I think the usual ablative of the adjective would be "Wellense", so perhaps the contraction mark is indicating that.

One way or another, it's the Liberty of Wells.

Is it the Liberty of Wells?

I think the Morris place name may commence with "de Libertate" (of the Liberty, but of the Liberty of where?)

Surrey / Re: J Hasson dorking

A useful website is Exploring Surrey's Past:

https://www.exploringsurreyspast.org.uk/themes/people/artists/john_hassell/

It seems to note many of Hassell's paintings, but I don't know if it mentions them all.  It includes an A - Z of his watercolours which are available to view on the site.

You could also try the Surrey History Centre collections.

Another possibility is the Heinz Archive, which is a part of The National Portrait Gallery, Orchard Street, London.  They may have an artist file on Hassell.  You could try e-mailing the Senior Archivist there and asking if they would be prepared to look for you.  Or you could visit them and make a search yourself.

What is your source for "J. Hasson", please?

Are you sure it isn't John Hassell?  He is the artist who painted a number of Surrey churches, especially in watercolour.

Thank you for your thoughts.  Appreciated.

Many thanks for the replies.  Much appreciated.

However, I'm not sure if I will be able to stick with what I have.  I've discovered that Halo 1 is "no longer available for sale" and is being superseded by Halo 3 and Halo 3+, so I may have to upgrade when my present contract expires.

Technical Help / Broadband
« on: Friday 19 November 21 10:44 GMT (UK)  »
My Broadband contract expires in mid-January.   For Black Friday, BT has offered me an upgrade (from Halo 1) to "Fibre with BT Halo 3+ for 0 extra a month".

My understanding of this is almost non-existent.  I am happy with present Broadband speeds and wasn't looking for anything faster.  It sounds more complicated, as home visits by experts are planned.  I've no idea whether new hardware or software is needed.

The current deal includes landline telephone facilities. Wifi is used via a hub.  I really just want to carry on as at present without disruption.

The deal on offer may be a good one.  Can anyone give me any practical advice, please, as to how to approach a contract renewal?

You could try to identify the will or administration of "Lewis" and see if Roger Bate is named.
