« on: Tuesday 22 April 25 22:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi Kokomo,

Not sure if the Morrisons of Greencastle are connected to yours in Moville but there were quite a few Morrisons in Greencastle:

James and Marianne Morrison, who had two sons William Hugh (died 1875) and James (died 1876) both in infancy and a daughter Charlotte Ellen who died in 1884.  Also Marianne Morrison died 1903 and James Morrison died 1951.

William and Sarah Morrison (died 1897 and 1921 respectively).  William’s brother Robert died in 1923.

There was a James and Margaret Morrison (died 1965 and 1966 respectively), who lived in Greencastle and their sons were:
James Morrison died 27th February 1983 Greencastle
William Morrison died 18th May 1991
Robert Morrison died 20th July 1993
Their daughters were Margaret Ada died 1946 and Marion died 1976

Also John and Elizabeth Jane Morrison of Carrichue have a memorial in Greencastle.

In Moville there is a John (Jack) Morrison buried, who died in 2004.

The Morrisons mentioned above in Greencastle are in St. Finian's Church of Ireland graveyard.

« on: Tuesday 28 January 25 22:44 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you Zefiro and Jebber. This is very helpful. I've tried looking at one line doing as you suggest and it makes it much easier to focus.  I'll now try this for the rest. Thanks again.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Advice when reading crossed letters?
« on: Tuesday 28 January 25 21:06 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to read some crossed letters i.e. letters that have writing one way and then continue at right angles over the top.  I'm finding most of them too difficult to read because one set of writing is on top of the other as well as in two directions.  Does anyone have advice that might help me please?

The Common Room / Re: Calling Genealogy experts - this one has got me baffled

I've not seen the census records but from the information in your post, perhaps William and George were brothers and the census could have recorded all the children living in the household as William and Alice's when some or all might have been their nephews/nieces instead.

I think Reichenau Bohemia is in the Czech Republic and is called Rychnov nad Kněžnou.

I have found this link:

Ireland / Emigration to Ireland between 1940s - 1960s
« on: Tuesday 18 April 23 20:35 BST (UK)  »
If someone emigrated to Ireland from elsewhere in Europe in the 1940s, 50s or 60s, what were the entry documents needed, were there any residency requirements, and would there be any records kept?
