Yes the middle name Ellen I have in my tree but unfortunately no other documents found thus far reference the name in full. Assumed died in the 1880's or married.

The majority of the Census returns I have say he worked as a Spermaceti Labourer perhaps for a factory that made Candles. Oddly enough the Marriage certificate of his son John Clancy states his father William as a Chef, possibly link there by not sure.

Hi, I only have the Bann, attached for reference, that I believed was my Mary.  The father referenced in this Bann is William Clancy which is a match and also the fact he is deceased is a match.  The profession is not a match (Game Haler (?)) and I do not recognise the witnesses (would I anyway?). I am informed the Mary in this Bann is the daughter of William Clancy B. 1813 and Eleanor Maune b.1821, and the DOB do not match.

The Common Room / What happened to Mary Clancy?

Good evening all,

I've hit a brick wall with a great grand aunt of mine namely Mary Clancy and I wonder if anybody can summon their magic powers to find where she might have gone :)

Born 1862 or 1863 in Middlesex or perhaps 'St Giles' Middlesex to William James Clancy 1831-1881 and Catherine Fitzgibbon 1825-1899 she can be located on both the 1871 & 1881 Census along with her siblings James b1859, John b1861 William b1866 & Catherine (Kate) b1868. The family lived at 20 Yeoman's Road in Chelsea / Kensington for the best part of 50 years until the street was mostly demolished in 1896, however I can find no trace of Mary onwards of the 1881 Census, she is not living with the family at the time of the 1891 Census and she is not recorded on the Diocese of Westminster Census of 1893 with the rest of her family.  I've checked the usual misspellings, Clancey, Lancy etc to no avail. For 10 years or so I thought she married John Keanely b1863 on the 24th of November 1889 but I was recently challenged on this and I suspect that challenge may be correct as there are too many discrepancies.

If anybody could have a look for me and come up with any suggestions I would be very appreciative.  Unfortunately I have no photos to aid.

Many thanks

Stephen

Many thanks for spotting the marriage of Priscilla to Albert, yes that all fits together, nice to put some context around the old photo. :)

ok, the plot thickens :).  If I assume the child held on the right as you look at the photo is Dorrie b.1907, my Great Grandmother is likely holding her, Fanny Matilda Emerton and she does have a sister by the name of Margaret Pricilla Emerton so that sounds about right save they tended not to live in Wimbledon (Oxford Avenue) and I've not located an Albert yet, assume the child on the left is Gladys.

Thanks, interesting, Dorothy was my paternal grandmother, the lady of left I suspect is a sister, would you have any thoughts on the word starting with 'P'?  Thanks again.

Good evening, I wonder if these words could be deciphered?  I've got most of it:  47 Oxford Avenue: ???: Albert & Gladys (?) myself and ????.  Photo of near relations of my Paternal Great Grandfather.  Any help would be very much appreciated.
Stephen
