hi, I am trying to find out information where my gg-grandfather came from he was married to isabella McDowall nee McDonald in 1871 in Glasgow. looking at the Scotland census it said he was born in Ireland, he stayed at 38 Catherine st anderston Glasgow.on his marriage certificate his father James mcdowall and his mother mary mcdowall nee smith.
he was aged 29 yrs old when he got married so he would have been born in 1842? would be grateful if anyone could help

hi MonicaL,
thanks for the information it has been very helpful got a copy of Bridget's death certificate from Scotland's people.on the death certificate it shows that she was a widow and Thomas was deceased, I spoke to my aunt Thomas and Bridget's granddaughter.she told me that when Thomas left for America Bridget never re-married and said she would never take him back.
on the death certificate, her daughter mary Cameron nee burke witnessed the death of her mother and told the registrar her father was dead.
this gives me a bit more information on the family Thomas mother and father's name's are Tobias and Anne also mary was Edmonds sister.
