Hello

In the early changes of hands of Town End Farm the Dixons are described as Tenants.

The only reference to ownership is in the UK Land Tax Redemption  record of 1798, mentioned earlier. This identifies the qwner as Wilton Wood

There was , at that time, a family of shipbuilders in Whitehaven , one of whom was named Wilton.
The Family also had connections to Town End

Quote
'The early life of John Wood prior to 1751 so far remains a mystery. It seems most likely that after leaving home at Yew Tree Farm, Town End, Wilton, Haile he was apprenticed to a Whitehaven ship builder and perhaps went to sea before setting up the yard at Whitehaven.'

It seems possible that this Wilton Wood was the actual owner of Town End Farm

Best wishes

Hello

This is, I think, the tree for Ann Dixon

At Wilton-
 Isaac Dixon (c1742-3 Jul 1810) m Elizabeth Dixon? (c ( Oct 1810)

At Haile (not Town End)
Isaac Dixon (1770-1843) m Elizabeth (Betty)  Hellon (1776-1850

At Town End Farm
Eldest Son Isaac Dixon (1797-1877) m 1836  Hannah Middleton (c1809 -1861)
Still at Home in Wilton Haile
Second Son John Dixon b 1800 Died 1834 at Wilton  Haile
And Daughter  Ann Dixon (1801-1843) m William Tyson

Some of this can be confirmed , but not all.

Still looking at the Farm(s)

Best wishes

Odd Points
1.   Isaac Dixon  appointed Overseer for 1864-5 for Haile
2.   Isaac Dixon tenant at sale of Town End Farm( 80 acres 2 Roods and 25 perches)
At auction In 1852
3.  May be the closemess of the relationships has some relevence to the Marriag Bond between William and Ann?

Hello

What is the layout of Town End Farm, Wilton, Haile? On the 1851 and 1861 census Tysons and Dixons appear to be living side by side in Town End. Is it one, two farms or a collective name?

Best

Thank you again for all the information. Still trying to unravel it.

Looks like the Tysons and the Dixons were closely connected.

I have a copy of a newspaper advert signed by the uwners and occupirs of land in Wilton and Haile requesting gentlemen to refrain from hunting and shooting on their lands signed by 18 people including Henrt Tyson and Isaac Dixon  , August 1826 and a marriage bond between William Tyson and Ann Dixon 1823
1851 William Tyson lives in Weddingshaw Farm

Still not clear where Tysons and Dixons live at that time 1823,and who , if either, live in Town end farm

Best wishes

Thank you all again, still trying to sortit out.

I have a copy of a document from1821 which names Isaac Dixon, Yeoman of Wilton, Haile as the father of Ann Dixon of Burton High, St Bees. Not sure which Isaac Dixon this is and if he was the Farmer at Townend
