Sorry to bring up an old thread like this but I wondered if this was ever resolved? It's really interesting and it's a shame if it's still a mystery.

Thank you everybody. You all seemed to have found it quickly. I don't know how I missed the deaths. And it's led me to Jane's parents. Unfortunately I've been unable to find anything on them so far, but I appreciate all your help.

The Common Room / Benjamin Ellis & Jane Vittoria Curtis

Can anyone find any info on this couple please.

All I have on them is their marriage on 31 July 1831 at St George The Martyr Southwalk. I then know that they had the following children:

Maria (1832)
John (1834)
Emma (1837)
Benjamin (1840)
Sarah Ann (1842)

And I have them in 1841 living in Wakefield. Both Benjamin & Jane have a dob as abt 1811 and both were not born in county. Benjamin is a Bookkeeper.

In 1851 the children are living alone with no parents. I can't find any other info on Benjamin or Jane.

Any help would be appreciated please.

I thought of that scenario but it's unusual on a marriage cert.
My x3 great grandma was Hannah Parkinson (or Hunter, depending what she decided to be called on any particular day) but on her marriage cert she lists her dad as William Whitehead.

Are your Brittons from Yorkshire? I am researching a Britton family who moved to west Yorkshire in the late 1800s.

The church had records there and held services there up till about 5 years ago but it shut down in the last two years and now has iron railings round it. Very sad. My great granddad fell through that whilst climbing it as a child, so the story goes.

The Leeds Library hold records for the church but is shut due to lockdown.

I concur with AnthoyMMM ;D
My mother was a twin; her sister was registered as stillborn.
Neither certificate has a time of birth.

Unlike myself and my brother, my daughters, and my granddaughters who all have times of birth recorded. (All twins)
Wow. I am amazed by that post alone.

Sorry to anyone thinking there's new info for this topic.

I have spent the last week thinking if this thread and hoping there was new info but it seems not.

I followed this thread closely with interest and awe. I hope this gets resolved in the near future.

I have one - at least 37 years!  Child born 1906, marriage 1943!
In my tree I have a couple having 3 kids in the mid 1910s and marrying in 1956. The man was having kids with his wife in the teens too. He died within 6 weeks of the second marriage.
