Hello HelenVW!

I suspect I may be descended from Cecila Lowrie as well. What information have you found on her so far?

I should have make it clear that Cecilia sometimes give her name as Catherine Cecilia on different documents.

She was in St Mary's in Hampshire in 1841 and in Castleton, Roxbourghshire in 1851.

I should also add Catherine is part of her name too as she seems to change between her names in censuses.

Hi,

I'm in the search of a Cecilia Mackay/McKay who is my 4x Great-Grandmother. She has been a mystery to me ever since I discovered her. She was recorded on several censuses, as having been born in Pembrokeshire although she had suggested otherwise on other records. I've found a baptismal record for her and a sibling on 16th March 1821 in the St Mary's area in Pembrokeshire. Her parents were recorded as John MacKay and her mother as Emeline. I don't think she was a twin as there was nothing on the record to suggest that she and her sibling were twins. I think it may be due to the fact that they were newcomers to the parish at the time.

She married a man called John Forster in Gretna Green in 1834, which would suggest she was a child bride if she was really born in 1821! She had several children all over UK from Southampton to Roxbourghshire in Scotland.

I know when she died (in Longtown, Cumbria) but really, I'd love to know more about her parents as her father was recorded on the baptismal record as a 'Gentleman' and that just add more mystery to my ancestor!

If anyone could help me with this particular family, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you Monica.

I wondered if he was buried elsewhere in Glasgow or Lanarkshire, instead of that particular cemetery?

However, I found this when looking at the death certificate and I'm not sure what it stands for? "27 RCH"? I'm not sure if it provide information about his burial?

Lanarkshire / Burial records for Calton residents in 19th Century

Hi. I’ve been wondering where I could find burial records for my 4x great grandfather- John Stewart. He lived at Gallowgate in Calton at the time of his death. He died on 2nd December 1864 from Typhus. But I can’t find a burial record for him and I’m not sure if he was buried nearby or in a pauper grave?

His family included his wife, Rachel nee Alston, children- jemima Stewart, William Stewart, Jane Stewart, Janet Stewart. He also had another child prior to his marriage- James Stewart who’s my 3x great grandfather.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.

My great grandparents were William Wright and Sarah Jane Twaddle. One of their children- Muriel was my paternal grandmother who was born in 1924 and passed away in 2011.

For others viewing this thread, here are the two eldest children both born at Creenagh.

Robert born 28th April 1919

Margaret born 4th September 1920

Thanks for that. Although MarthaA may have got her family tree a bit  mixed up. She mentioned that William and Sarah (my great grandparents) had 4 children called Leslie, Griffith, Charlotte and another daughter. This is not wholly true. I will explain.

William and Sarah had 6 children- Robert, Margaret, John, Muriel, William, Leslie between 1919 and 1930.

HOWEVER, William had a paternal uncle, also called William Wright, who married a woman called Letitia Griffiths and they had 5 children together. One of their sons- Robert Wright (born 1883) had married a Charlotte McDowell and they had 4 children- Beatrice, Olive, Charlotte and Arthur.

I’m guessing that it must be from this particular branch that she got her information from. It’s certainly plausible that Robert and Charlotte would have another child called Griffith, named after Letitia Griffiths.

@MarthaA I would like to know where you got your original information from? It may help us to figure out whereabouts in the family tree you fit in.

Hello I am trying to trace descendants of the Wright family from Creenagh.

My Great Grandmother was an Ann Wright born circa 1862 into a farming family in Creenagh.

Ann had at least two siblings, a sister Emily and also brother William who married a Sarah Twaddle. I believe that William and Sarah had four children Leslie, Griffith, Charlotte and another daughter. From the scant else I know Charlotte may possibly have married a Pembrokeshire farmer and moved to West Wales.

Hoping that I can find out more as the William and Sarah mentioned in this thread it would seem are directly related to my Great Grandmother Ann Wright.

Many thanks,

MarthaA

Hi Martha, welcome.

I'm the original poster of this thread and I am one of the descendants of the Wright Family from Creenagh. My great grandparents were William Wright and Sarah Jane Twaddle. One of their children- Muriel was my paternal grandmother who was born in 1924 and passed away in 2011. When I started the research on my Irish family tree, I made a connection with a long lost relative who was descended  directly from Ann Wright and John Murtagh.

If you wish, I can help with more of these information and potentially link you to more long lost descendants?! Please private message me and I will see what I can do to help you.
