Family History Beginners Board / Re: Utter Ancestry
« on: Monday 30 April 18 21:52 BST (UK)  »
I am thinking that it's possible Amelia Jane Utter (Family Search ID# 99VT-V1X) may have been a grandchild of Joseph Elkanah Watson Utter Jr. This is only speculation at this point since I have not yet found a a record to prove the relationship. I know that he died in Clermont county and Amelia was married in that same county. Her birth year aligns correctly to possibly be a child of one of Joseph's male children (Colonel Dowty, James, William Burke, Samuel, or Joseph).

I am currently speculating that she may be a descendant of William Burke, born between Elizabeth Anne and Joseph D. Since she married in 1848 at 16 years of age, this explains why she wouldn't be listed in the 1850 US census as a resident living under the household of William Burke.

She named her son William which further supports that she may have descended from William Burke. William Burke also has a daughter Sarah Jane (repeated use of the name Jane as a middle name).

The marriage says she was 16 born abt 1832, also says Thomas was 16.  Says she married Thomas P not William but haven't seen the original record.

Can you find them on a census with perhaps a birthplace that would help?

Yes I meant to type Thomas P. McNeill that was my mistake.

Actually I found that she was born in Ohio according to the death record for her son William.

How can you see that she was born in 1832?

I am trying to find out more about Amelia Jane Utter (born circa 1829). She married William P. McNeill in 1848 in Clermont, OH.

I'm not sure where she was born or who her parents were.

I did find a William Burke Utter (born in 1803 in Clermont, OH). I'm not sure if they are somehow related. It looks like he and wife Mahala Truitt had other children around the same time that Amelia was born.

If anyone could help me out and find any more info I would greatly appreciate it.

The Common Room / England Lookup Request
« on: Tuesday 27 February 18 21:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all, I have recently started an ancestry search, and I am interested in learning more about James Froom Sr. who was born in England in 1736. He emigrated to either the US or Canada, and he married Margaret Searl on 14 Jul 1767.

I wanted to see if anyone would be able to look up where exactly he was born and who his parents were. I greatly appreciate any assistance you might be able to provide.

United States of America / Can't find Illinois birth record
« on: Saturday 24 February 18 13:06 GMT (UK)  »
I have just recently begun my ancestry research. I have a great grandmother Elizabeth Buckley. According to the 1900 US census (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-DHRQ-222?i=23&cc=1325221), she was born in Illinois in October 1896. I have searched IL birth records during that timeframe, but I haven't been able to find a birth record for her. Any ideas? ???

Jeremiah Buckley b 1865 - still very feint but it seems more clear to me as Coughlan.

Does it look like Jeremiah was a sibling of Cornelius who was born in 1867?

Well, they seem to have the same parents - although as Sinann pointed out, the townland was different.

The date of birth looks like March 11th but the baptism is March 3rd so something isn't adding up.

Here is Jeremiah's baptism - Clondrohid Parish

March 3rd 1865

The marriage I gave you was Macroom parish which borders Clondrohid so you would need to look in both perhaps.

Thanks for teaching me how to fish. I am trying to look through the Clondrohid images. Do you know if these are indexed or do I just need to scan through page by page?
