Family History Beginners Board / Re: Griffith Williams

Thank you to everyone helping me with more information of Griffith Williams. I`m still not getting anywhere. The reason being I don`t have much information to go on and all the older relatives are long gone. there are two Griffith Williams....1863...and 1865. One with a Father called John and one with Thomas. My Great Grandad`s Father was called John, but I have never heard anyone mention his middle name Robert, and to complicate matters both Mother`s are called Elizabeth. I have ordered a Marriage Certificate to see if that gives anymore clues..... I do remember that either my Great Grandad or my G.G Grandad stole some sugar and went on a (convict ship at Conway, North Wales).  :o that`s all I know.

Hi . Thank yo once again for all your help. The family with Sarah Ashcroft is my family she was the Mother of Mary Ann Ashcroft ,who married Griffith Williams, was was deaf. Census is correct with the children Elizabeth,Sarah,Mary Alice died at the age of 4, William, Griffith, David and Walter who were twins.......I keep getting to a `brick wall` on my research website. Do they do that on purpose?...Sorry for sounding so sceptical.  ::)

Thank you everyone you have been brilliant (as always). I didn`t attach a Census because I haven`t used this method before ,so please bear with me  ::) I think I`ve got it now (hopefully ;D). This Census has a Griffith Williams and Mary Williams and a Mary A Williams 17 months (I think), but it dosen`t have the 2 older daughters Elizabeth born 1887 and Sarah born 1890...so may be it`s wrong. My Aunt who was quiet knowledgable about the family history was certain Griffith`s Father was a ship`s Captain and he married a Jewish lady. I have no evidence of a place of birth for John and I don`t know any names of Griffith`s siblings. My Grandmother said her Father Griffith had a middle name IFON,but I can`t find any proof of this either. Thank you all once again.

Hello everyone. I have been searching for a Griffith Williams 1863....found him on the following Census..1891,1901,1911, but besides a marriage certificate for the 15th February,1886 to Mary Ann Ashcroft, where it states Griffiths Father`s name is John Williams (other relatives say it was Thomas!) I can`t find anything else. Griffith was supposed to be born in Liverpool 1863,but I can`t find him or any Brothers and Sisters of his. His Father was supposed to be born between 1827-1830 in North Wales and a ships Captain in the same area, who married a Jewish lady who`s name I do not know. Not sure how to proceed, keep going around in circles on a website....any suggestions please would be most helpful. Thank you.

So Sorry ...mean`t to say uncle John Reed/Reid emigrated from Liverpool to Canada aged 16!!!!!! Good Grief!!!!! on the 23 August 1929, aboard the DORIC. He arrived on the 31 August 1929 and arrived in Quebec city on the 1 Sept 1929. On the 11 Sept 1938 he travelled to Port Blaine, Washington on his way to SEATTLE, to find work? Does anyone know what happened to him? Thank you for your help. I have posts in Canada as well as Britain.
