Ellen's father was John D Jones born 1821 at Erw Goch Llansantffraid Glan Conway Denbighshire. this location is close to Llanelian. Reasonably confident of this link as I have had a confirmation of a DNA cousin through this line. William Jones in the census's with his family is shown as a Taylor which agrees with our Family knowledge. John D Jones (1821-1896) was married to Eliazabeth Griffiths (1829-1901). Hope this helps??

My Great Grand parents William Jones born in Abergele and Ellen Jones (maiden name) born in Llanelian  were married about 1874 as this is when their first child Margaret Ellen Jones was born in Pensarn, Abergele. I am assuming they were married but maybe this is wrong.

I am really trying to find the parents of my Great Grandfather William as I have already traced the descendants of Ellen. There are a number of William Jones married around this time with the designation of St Asaph as I have already purchased 2 marriage certificates but they are either the wrong age or location. The obvious location for the marriage would be St Elian church at Llanelian but cannot locate any records for this church. Another possibility would be St Paul's Wesleyan Chapel Abergele as I know my Grandmother was married here in 1912.

I was brought up in Abergele but nowadays i am retired in Cyprus so there has been no chance to do any local research at a record office. Would appreciate any lead on this but in my view, the common names make this research very difficult.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Re: Trimley St Mary’s Parish Registers -TURTILL (TURTLE)
« on: Saturday 21 March 20 18:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Jon

Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to open the Suffolk wills you referred to, even though I have a login for the Suffolk record office, unless it has now become obsolete.

However checking my records I do have a Robert Turtle 1771 -1841 born in Falkenham which is only a few miles up the road from Trimley St Mary.

I have the following details on him.
"First name(s)  Robert
Last name  Turtle
Baptism year  1771
Baptism date  20 Oct 1771
Parish  St Ethelbert
Place  Falkenham
Father's first name(s)  William
Mother's first name(s)  Sarah
Relationship  Son
Residence  -
County  Suffolk
Country  England

Robert's siblings are
William turtle 1766 born at Kirton
Roger Turtle 1773 born at Falkenham

I do have a death for a Robert Turtle in Suffolk in 1841 but whether this is the Robert you are looking for I don't know.

Death Name:  Robert Turtle
Registration Year:  1841
Registration Quarter:  Jan-Feb-Mar
Registration district:  Woodbridge

Perhaps if you could give me some more details of Elizabeth Turtle's will, then perhaps it will help me to fill in some of the gaps that I have.

thanks

Alan

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Re: Butley name"Tuttle" or "Tuthill"
« on: Tuesday 01 January 19 21:50 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks Diddy.

This certainly helps to build up the picture of the Tuttles in Butley. Your confirmation of 2 named Elizabeth burials adds to my understanding. The death of elizabeth Tuttle in 1723 makes her a possible wife of John Tuttle  with the other Elizabeth her grand-daughter (maybe Elizabeth Tuthill) who died 1727 at just one year old being the daughter of Nathaniel Tuttle (born 1696 Butley (IGI), died Capel St Andrew 1732 ) and Ann Garrett). Bit of educated guesswork here. thanks very much for you help, much appreciated.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Butley name"Tuttle" or "Tuthill"

I have recently received a settlement certificate for James Tuttle and his wife Mary related to Butley and he died in 1761. Born 1690 approx. He is my direct descendant. The national Burial Index gives 3 Tuttle names for Butley namely Ann,Elizabeth and John who died in the period 1726-1736.. I am trying to obtain more information on these people. My suspicion is that John Tuttle will be the father of James but this needs to be confirmed. Any help would be appreciated. Information might be available on microfiche but I am based in Cyprus and this would not help even if i got a copy.    Thanks if anyone can assist.

To Rosie 99.

I found the Suffolk Marriage Licence Bonds under Google Books which allows you to search for text on line. So I found Ann Tuttle but could not read the following line as the following line was not shown. Slightly complicated to explain but thanks for your efforts. Thanks Alan

Correction- just followed your other lead of marriage to be at Blaxhall and Capel St Andrew is the correct location and not Capel St Mary. I now find Capel St Andrew, borders Boyton where my James Tuttle (Turtle) married in 1748 to Susan Downing. Too much of a co-incidence so they must be related . Unfortunately I don't have James's birth date but Anne Tuttle is probably his Aunt and there must have been a Tuttle family in the vicinity. Thanks again much appreciated.

Yes, excellent.Capel will be short for Capel St Mary south of Ipswich. Unfortunately I cannot link Anne with my current Tuttle or Turtle names but at least it adds to my database and probably not linked directly to my brick wall of James. However your lead is very well appreciated and Family Search (History books) is a new source for me to investigate. Thank you for your quick response.

Does anyone have access to the above. By searching the Suffolk Marriage licence Bonds 1663-1750, I have established that Robert Bert of Butley married Anne Tuttle in 1732/1733. Unfortunately the next line stating where Ann Tuttle is from, I cannot access. She could be related to my brick wall of James Tuttle married at nearby Boyton in 1748.  I am based abroad so not possible to visit local record office at Ipswich. thanks in advance.
