Hi Sandy,

As far as I know she died in New Bradwell, they lived in their caravan on Newport Road until her death and at that point the caravan was burnt.  The land became one of the Goodman scrap yards.  Reservoir is buried in the cemetary in Bradwell.

Cheers, Sarah

Thanks for the reply Pennie - yes my Edward was one of about 14 children and most of them were registered. His older and younger siblings all are on FreeBMD but him and the sister next to him don't appear to have been registered for whatever reason. I presume they were travelling and didn't bother. It seems strange that all the others were and he wasn't though!

He definitely existed!

Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / GOODMAN Edward - Old Duston baptism lookup 1904

Can anyone help with an Old Duston baptism lookup?  It's a long shot, I just found my great-grandad in the 1911 census aged six and so born in 1904-5 in Old Duston. The name is Edward GOODMAN.

The complication is that they were gypsies and so his siblings were all born in different places so I'm hoping maybe to find his baptism in Duston. I've never managed to find a birth for him anywhere in official records even though many of his siblings were registered.

His mothers name was Reservoi SMITH and father Edward GOODMAN so he could be under SMITH or even LOVERIDGE at this time.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks, Sarah

Hi Mo - thank you so so much for looking that up for me I really appreciate it. I've been having problems tracking these guys down and only just managed to find the wedding record. Knowing the parents is SUCH a help so thanks again.

Thanks, Sarah x

Does anyone have any parish records for West Derby in Liverpool that can help me?

I know that John Walker REEVE married Ann MURPHY in West Derby in the last quarter of 1874 and I wondered if it had their parents written in the parish registers at all?

Can anyone help - very gratefully received if so!

thanks, Sarah

Hi,

Can anyone help me with finding my BALL family in 1851 and/or 1861? I have found them in 1841 and 1871 but I have a BIG gap inbetween.

In 1841 they were living in 1 Albion Road West, Hackney, Mddx [H)107/669/ 7/10/pg12]

Robert BALL age 28 Builder born in Mddx
Elizabeth BALL age 27 born in Mddx
Jane BALL age 24 born in Mddx
Eliza BALL age 2 born in Mddx
Robert BALL 4 months born in Mddx

By 1871, Elizabeth was a widow and they were living in 37 Linsey Street, Bermondsey, Surrey [RG10/637/104]

Elizabeth BALL age 57 bonr Stoke Newington, Mddx
Henry J Ball son age 22 born Clerkenwell, Mddx
Sarah A Ball dau age 19 born City of London
Edmund R Ball son age 16 born City of London

I realise it's probably asking a lot but if anyone has the indexes and can find Elizabeth inbetween. Robert her husband would have died between 1854 and 1871 so should be around in the 1851 census.

thanks for any help or advice!

Sarah

Hi June,

Did you ever find anything out about your Brazil link?  I've just found a similar thing. I've traced what I think are my family back to 1881 in Liverpool and find that the father was born in Pernambucan, Brazil although it does state he was a british subject.  His wife and child are all born in Liverpool.

His occupation was a coach builder so I'm very puzzled how and why he came to be in Brazil!! It seems very strange.

Any hints and tips you could give?

best wishes, Sarah
