Technical Help / Re: Cloud back up - Which do you recommend?

I have used Carbonite for years and have been satisfied with the experience.  And yes, I have had to retrieve files and can say that the system works.

In addition to the thoughts above I would suggest you keep a digital copy of your documents as a backup.

If you can get into the file you might trying compacting it [Tools>Compact File].  At completion you will get a message that says something like "X% compacted" (or something like that).  Compact again until you get the message to say "0% compacted".  Your file should be clean as possible.

That's great advice from Heywood and worth pursuing.

My William Jones (b. 1794) was born in Wiltshire and was a shoemaker (or cordwainer) as was his son.  Occupation is sometimes a key bit of information that allows one to have a better chance in identifying the correct family.

From time to time HP issues new drivers or fixes to known problems.  I wouild explore this avenue as well as being sure your Windows 10 software is up to date.

When you installed the software were you able to print a test message?

Good question.
If you are not using the Ancestry/synch feature one might be inclined to keep the older version.  But my guess is that you might not have any support for that version and thus, upgrading might make sense in the long run.

I also use FTM on my local computer which is synched to Ancestry so my tree is backed up in the cloud.  But I also backup the FTM files on my computer as well.

As to organizing your records you might take a look at Microsoft OneNote or EverNote.  These programs will take any media you have scanned.  Here is one of many articles on the subject.

Remove the battery, if you have one.
