Dearest Kiltaglassan, I can't begin to thank you. I don't know what I've been doing wrong but everything I've tried comes up with 'no records exist' or whatever. I've been focusing purely on her dob - I think maybe I've had a sort of mental block about sorting that out first. I'm choked up seeing it all in print. God bless you.

Thanks to everyone who's replied - I've tried pretty much everything suggested but she doesn't seem to exist! Sorry not to mention her name - it's not secret - she was born, I think, according to the censuses, Margaret Jane Carroll ka Maggie last quarter 1898, mother was Mary Magennis. She married Owen Scollan from Glenfarne (I think), in Belfast probably, about 1930, had my mother Sheila in 1931 and a baby boy (PJ?) 1932 or 1933, and died at home in Lisdoodan in 1933 of TB. Baby Boy also died from TB. I'll keep trying the records - maybe with less specific info - and keep my fingers crossed!

I've been trying to find info on the birth, marriage and death dates of my maternal GM. All I've gleaned so far is that she was born about 1898, married (in Belfast?) about 1930 and died in Lisdoodan (townland) about 1933. She had two children - a boy (died in infancy) and a girl, my mother. I can't find any official records apart from two censuses, although I've seen a copy of Mum's birth certificate which didn't really help (interesting tho). ANY help or pointers would be gratefully received.
