Hi stevej60,

Thanks so much, I have no idea about his army days.
I know his records would answer questions but at the moment funds are short .
I do know he must have been in Hereford for a while as he married there and had children that were left in an orphanage.
I am trying to contact family members to see if they know anything but not having much success.

Thank you for replying.

This does ask the question why was i told he was in the South Wales Borderers, He was born and lived in Wales for all of his life.

It was his daughter that i got the information from.

Hello

I have a query regarding someone who supposedly served in WW2 with The South Wales Borderers.
He married in 1940 in Herefordshire
This is what i was told by a family member.

The problem i have is that the only photograph of him in uniform clearly shows Durham on his shoulder badge.

How do i go about finding which regiment he was with, he is no longer living  but did survive the war

Hello fourcarsons,

Thank you for the information.
I am not a direct relative, but the girl that was left in the orphanage was my father's step brothers child. I did not know about the 2 boys until I started researching
My father was the guardian of the girl.
If yours is the Carson  Family Tree on Ancestry you have the wrong Ronald Davies.
You need to make 3 posts before  I can send you a private message.

Hello all,

Just an update on the birth certificate of Queenie , unfortunately no fathers name given.
I have no idea where the tree on ancestry gets the 8th Duke of Rutland as the father from unless there has been a DNA test done. I doubt i will ever know the real father, i have no way of contacting the tree owner so it remains a mystery.

Thank you for all that helped in the search for her.

Thanks avm

I hadn't noticed the dates.

She must have liked the older man as Henry John Brinsley Manners , 8th Duke of Rutland  died in 1925.

I suppose the only way go is to get Queenies  birth certificate.

Thank you all so much . I cannot believe how fast you all find information.

I think Agnes married James Henshaw Mills in 1907, i have tracked her through census to her death in  1960.

I don't  believe that  Henry John Brinsley 8th Duke of Rutland Manners is anything to do with this family.

And then?

That all fits with the 39 Register .

Her father Ronald was my fathers 1/2 brother, my father was Lindas Guardian.
