US Lookup Requests / Re: Robert LENT m Elizabeth A RUGGLES NYC late 1700's

Great, thank you, that shows the Ruggles Lent connection.

I wonder if this is a later generation, as the daughter of the Lent Ruggles marriage, Our Sarah, was born in 1794 and married in 1831

As you say, if the earliest Elizabeth Lent in NYC is 1867 then that must be a generation on.

We are looking to the US as Ancestry.com has highlighted that there is an entry for the parents of Sarah Lent in the following:
U.S. City Directories, 1822-1995 Source Info
Directories & Member Lists
Quick Compare
Review
Name   Lent   Different
Residence   year city, New York, USA   New
Spouse   Elizabeth Lent

Additionally, Elizabeth Lent nee Ruggles has an entry in the |N America, Family Histories, 1500-2000.

Neither of these registers am I able to access without assistance from US colleagues if anyone is able to help?  thank you

Hi, thank you for replying.  We have not found Sarah anywhere else.  Ancestry.com suggested that Robert Lent married a Eliz Ruggles in NYC hence me looking to the USA.
We have checked the census.
Having hit a dead end with Henry also having not been able to find his first marriage either,  we are thinking that both him and Sarah met in NYC.  And his first marriage could have taken place there too.

Our family tree on Ancestry is extensive with many interlinked trees  for the Edmead descendants, yet no one has been able to get back further that Henry and Sarah.

Can anyone assist with looking up Robert Lent and Elizabeth A Ruggles please in US records who look to have resided in NYC in the late 1700's.
They had a daughter Sarah Lent born 1794 who married my ancestor Henry Edmead.  I have hit a dead end with Sarah and Henry in UK, and presume they lived in NYC until emigrating to UK and having son Alfred in 1829.
Any help much appreciated
Thank you

Is anyone able to help with access to records for Mary Askew in Alwalton/Bluntisham, Huntingdonshire in 1700's?
Mary married John Goodwin in 1743 in Stanground.
There are many, many Askew's in the area in the 1700's and the only Mary I have been able to locate from the broadly correct period of time was born 4 May 1729, which would have made her only 14 at the time of marriage. She is possibly the right Mary, and an error in transcribing dates, or she married young.  Does anyone have information that might help confirm either way? If this is the right Mary her parents look to be Thos Askew who married Elizabeth Ellis?  Would greatly welcome assistance please. I would love to be able to get back to 1600's on the line.  Mary would have been my gggggg-grandmother, with her and 4 generations following all living in the same area of Huntingdonshire.
Thank you to anyone that is able to help me.

Jon, thank you this is really helpful and looks to be the Mary I am looking for.
As Mary Goodwin born 1745/50  died 1818 her parents were John Goodwin m to Mary Goodwin nee Askew in 1743.
Do you or anyone have access to information on how many children they had, and dates of Mary Askew birth and death. They could be from Fletton/Stanground in Hunts.
I would like to be able to find out more about Mary Askew's parents too if possible.

the daughter of Mary Tombs was Elizabeth TOOMBS b 1776/79 Farcet and died 1832/44.  Thanks to colleagues on this site I have established that there is a  marriage in Lincolnshire has bride Elizabeth TOOMBS of Farcet, Hunts 18 May 1803 at Sutton St James, Thomas WAKE (batchelor, otp) to Elizabeth TOOMBS (spinster, Farcet, Hunts) by licence.

Mary Toombs married Francis Toombs.  I have not been able to establish her maiden name, nor marriage date/place, but i believe they had John Toombs b 1775 d 1776, Elizabeth as above, John b 1778, Francis b 1780, and possibly Mary with Francis and Mary baptised together.

The only marriage i can find of Mary Toombs is that in 1791 to Richard Cottrell in Farcet, but this does not fit with what i believe to be her death in 1784 in Stanground, Hunts?  Mary and Richard had Richard, Fanny, John, William, Sarah, Elizabeth (this Eliz died in 1779 in Hunts).  I then wonder if she hooked up with Francis (did Richard die?) and had Elizabeth as above, as i cant find a marriage between Mary and Francis.  It seems he went on to have the children named above this para and he seems to have died in 1788 in Huntingdon.

I am Completely lost!!

Fantastic, thank you.  what a fact,  although 2 years of dropsy can't have been pleasant, what a story!
this all helps me with the next generation back.

the Dowse connection makes sense as his mother Eliz Gray was a widower when she married his father William Wake in 1767 in Long Sutton, Lincs.  Her first husband was possibly Thomas Gray, married in 1764, Long Sutton, he was a grazier, and with whom she had Elizabeth and Rebekkah possibly twins. Whilst I've not been able to locate the death of Thomas Gray, can anyone help out here? It must have been before 1767.

Eliz Gray's maiden name was Dowse, hence when she married William Wake in 1767 and had Thomas Wake in 1770, he is known as Thomas John Dowse? I've not been able to find the date of death of this Eliz Gray, particularly as daughter also Eliz Gray.
