Hello I too am descended from a Roscommon Feeley - Winfred born circa 1795, married Timothy Salmon had children, Margaret, William, Timothy, Bernard, Catherine, Bridget, John. In 1846 Winifred,Timothy and some family moved to England. In Dudley on 1851 census. I know of one other Feeley who was in area at same time Timothy Feeley as he was godparent. Walsall’s not far away. Have you had any further info? Have you had your DNA tested?

Herefordshire / Re: Convent in Bartestree

So good to read about Bartestree. I also discovered my late great great aunt there on the 1901 census. Gertrude Salmon. I don’t know the circumstances of how she came to be there, certainly the family were in poverty from 1891 when her father died. I do know she became pregnant whilst at the convent, delivered of a baby boy at the Hereford workhouse in 1909 and moved to an RC mother and baby home in London. Any information about the convent late 1800s, early 1900s appreciated

Hello
Just spotted the photo of Eliza Hart. She was my great grand mother and I own the original photograph.
Eliza’s youngest son Joseph, the seventh child, was my grand-dad.
Eliza was married to Charles Brettle.
I don’t have my records handy but it was either this Charles or his father also called Charles who changed the spelling of the surname from Brettell to Brettle. My mother recalls Joseph explaining this to her and it was because there was another Charles Brettell in the area who had debt problems and my ancestor did not want to be confused with him.
