Ahh I see. So no closer to where Isaac and his family came from in Poland.

Thank you very much for your help in any case. Much appreciated

Thank you very much for this info about where he was born.
I’ve looked up where St George in the East in Poland is/was but cannot find a definitive location. Could you possibly help with that?

Also, my great grandmother “Jane” was born in Poland too but no info about her either.

Am very grateful for you input and would appreciate any more help you can give.

Unless they lie about where born! That’s what appears to have happened with John/Jacob who was born late 1870s and had to have been born in Poland as the family didn’t emigrate to UK till early 1880s. John lied on his US application and stated he’d been born in London!!

We’re they worried about anti semitism? Is that why they were economical with the truth?

I think I will order it because my sister and I would love to know. According to my dna I’m 29% Jewish as my grandmother converted and wasn’t Jewish by birth. My father wasn’t either but mum was orthodox as a girl but not when after her father died - though she never ate shell fish and nor did/do we!

Oh that’s a nuisance - couple years too soon.
You do know an awful lot about the Jewish immigration to UK- thank you for sharing.

Thank you for info.

Yes looked for info on Mary but no luck so far.

In an earlier post I wrote down the address the family were staying at in London. I believe it was the 1891 census or could’ve been the 1901 census.

Brilliant. Wish I had one of my extended family. Knew my maternal grandmother but obviously not fraternal.

Hi Marmalady
Well fancy that. Bet they they knew each other! Just wish I could get to the bottom of all this. I can understand your frustration. If it wasn’t for this group I would still be in the complete dark.

Looked up aliens entering the country and there is absolutely nothing to help me but it might you. I’ve done a free trial on find my past - that’s where I looked up aliens arriving.

Where my family hailed from in Poland I simply don’t know . Trying to trace my grandfather’s siblings but not much luck there either.

Good luck with your research. If I find out anything more about Poland or ship they arrived on I will let you know in the hope it might help you.

All I can say is this group is invaluable in tracing your ancestors.
