Thanks Rosie.  Having gone back on Scotland’s People, it all checks out.  All very intriguing.

Thanks Barry. Could well be where Marguerite’s husband came from.

Hi, I’m new to this so had no idea.  Simply trying to find a branch of the family none of us knew anything about.  Thanks for the lead.

Long shot but my great aunt, Beatrice Anne Christie Parker died in Welwyn in 1956. The death was registered by her daughter Marguerite Isobel Ord of Welwyn. Would anyone have any leads.

Many thanks,

Max

Thanks to everyone.  Back in the land of decent Wi-fi!  Lots to be going on with and Forfarian was on the money with my mother and aunt/uncle details (they were all Cameron).  Thanks to Hibee and the Corstorphine Trust for showing the house; a real shame my mother didn’t get to see it as she looked about 10 years ago but couldn’t find it. Next challenge is to find any relations of Great Aunt Beatrice. An innocent search has now turned into an all encompassing quest!

Apologies for the slow reply but I’m overseas at the moment with really poor signal. I’ll reply in full next week when I’m back. Max

I did thanks Col. I was always told that both of my great aunts died and that Gertie was the only survivor. Clearly Beatrice did but I imagine, for both her and my gran, the loss of both parents within a year, being separated and the drop in lifestyle was pretty unpleasant; even in the context of today’s values.

Wow! Thank you everyone!  A lot more to go on. Sadly he died in 1910 but they had other houses in the West End. My grandmother, Gertrude, was sent off to service. What I have found out is that her older sister, Beatrice Anne Christie Strath, married someone with the surname Williams and was a dance teacher but was separated from gran and I haven’t found any other trace as of yet.
