Armagh / Re: Looking for ancestors/information on William Brown and Rebecca Armour

Yep. That's them. :  )  I have all the Scottish information. What I really need is to make a break-through with the Irish records. There's just nothing to go on.

Scotland's People (they have a database of records). I'm not sure where Rebecca and William lived - that's what I need to find out. As far as Thomas and Margaret go, they settled in Glasgow (various different areas).

Appreciate it! She married a Thomas McAulay (b. around 1809). Both were born in Northern Ireland, but I have no way to pinpoint where (although likely Antrim). Found parents in SP. Hope you can help!

Antrim / McAulays of Antrim
« on: Thursday 17 September 20 23:48 BST (UK)  »
I mistakenly posted this on the Armagh board (sorry for the confusion). I am looking for any information on the McAulays of Belfast/Antrim. More specifically, an Elizabeth (b. 1837) or Rebecca (b.1835) to parents Thomas McAulay and Margaret Brown. Any hints would be most appreciated - thanks!

Interesting - most of the things that I read about the surname stated that it almost exclusively English or Scottish (which doesn't, of course, mean that an English or Scottish "Armour" couldn't be living in NI), and that there were not that many living in NI. I'm going a century back from the time you're talking about, so I'm sure there were fewer then. But maybe more than I thought?

Armagh / Looking for ancestors/information on William Brown and Rebecca Armour

A real puzzle, with no information to go on. William and Rebecca are supposedly from Northern Ireland - county unknown. Both were probably born in the late 1700s. They had a daughter, Margaret Brown who was b. around 1819, in Northern Ireland. Sorry for the lack of details, but I'm sadly lacking any additional information. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Armagh / McAulay-McCarrol connection???
« on: Thursday 17 September 20 01:30 BST (UK)  »
Hello - looking for anyone that has information on A William McAulay m. to a Diana McCarrol (both born in the late 1700s in Northern Ireland). Unsure of the the County. The only information I have is that they had a son, Thomas, who was born in Northern Ireland around 1809, and later settled in Scotland. Thanks in advance!

BTW, as it turns out, "Armour" is not very common in Northern Ireland. It is almost exclusively English/Scottish (although there were some, but not many, families who migrated to NI). Now I'm wondering if Margaret Brown's mum/family was actually English/Scottish? Hmm. Makes things a bit interesting.
