I know this reply is coming well over a year late so apologies for reviving a dead thread. I wanted to confirm that the sister mentioned (Phyllis Louisa Dodd or Walters) is deceased.

The 1954 death notice of her father, Roy Robert Walters (alias James Marcus John Moris Dodds), refers to Phyllis as Mrs Jones: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/245563470?searchTerm=%22Roy%20Robert%22%20Walters.

In 1949, Phyllis Louisa was living at Charles St, Launceston with her husband George Robert William Jones (and later at other addresses in Launceston). This is the same address as Phyllis' mother, Mary Elizabeth.

Phyllis (d 1980) is buried with her husband George (d 1990) at Car Villa Cemetery in Launceston. See, respectively, https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/212880136/phyllis-louisa-jones and https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/212879683/george-robert_william-jones.

Hope this helps.

Paul, of course you are quite right but I don't have access to this wonderful database: you do, so I am going to thank you for taking the time to undertake these searches.

But I also now know where to purchase the Northampton databases compiled by Alan Clarke and his team.

Thank you for your replies! I will keep digging - hopefully I find something in surrounding areas, as suggested. Fingers crossed.  ;D

Good evening (from Down Under),

I am wondering if anyone could please point me to the right database/s for marriages in Northampton (the town) during the period between 1810 to 1820.

I've tried Ancestry (eg Extracted Parish Records for Northampton), FreeREG, findmypast, etc. I'm afraid I may looking in all the wrong places. ???

George Atkinson married a 'Jane' in Northampton probably between 1815 and 1819 only based on the fact that the Atkinsons baptised their children at St Giles (one child at Doddridge Memorial though) between 1819 and 1828.

Because most of the children were baptised at St Giles, would I be right in saying that it was usual for families to remain within that parochial area for earlier events like marriage too? It appears that the FreeREG database would not cover the presumed St Giles period referred to above.

I would be most grateful any help or guidance on database usage.

Many thanks,

Sarah

Thanks for having a look Jamjar. I would have said thank you earlier but I didn't have the chance to check my email until just now. The state of the cemetery is just atrocious! :'( Is it just the Anglican section that is bad? You'd think a big cemetery like this would be well maintained. It's sad to see.
