Re Obituaries for William Bernard Knott and his wife Constance. I have all their details from England. I am hoping to find an  obituary in Nokomis, Sarasota, Florida, for either of their deaths that would lead me to the married names of their two daughters. Not sure how to navigate through the records in Florida.

Hi Sandra, I live in Australia and am not sure what information I would find if I purchased a copy of the SSDI. I am trying to track down my two cousins from this marriage and had hope that an obituary might give me their married names.

William Bernard Knott. I am trying to locate an obituary for my uncle and aunt. He died in Nokomis, Sarasota, Florida 19 Feb 1979. He migrated to USA from England in 1949 with wife Constance who died June 1994. The address given on her SSDI was 10989 Valley Cottage, Rockland, New York. They had two daughters both of whom were born in England and were naturalized along with their parents in 1955. If I purchase a copy of the SSDI will I learn any more useful information. I would be grateful for any help and advice. Thanks in advance. Shalaj

Thanks for the Ellis Island site. Great help on all those British ancestors who vanished from England. Did find out the height and weight of my grandfather from the Ellis Island records.
Every little bit of info helps fill out the picture

Ancestry gave free access to Emigration records last weekend. I saved the record of my grandfather's last voyage but now find I need to pay to access the actual record. Can anyone please look up Frederick William Knott (born 1872, Sydenham, Kent)  New York Passenger List SS Olympic arrived June 21 New York from London. I am very interested in finding what his crew position is listed as.
The Ancestry reference is:
22 June 1921 New York Passenger List. Olympic. Microfilm Serial T715, Roll T715_2985, Line 18

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Catherine Jones obituary
« on: Sunday 04 September 11 22:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi Alan, Thanks for solving the mystery. The obituary was probably placed in Sydney newspaper by her son William Jones, a prominent business man. The only likely Death Reg.in England did not fit geographically and knowing that many did not register at that early date was thinking that parish registers were my last hope. Thanks again, another foothold on the brickwall. Regards Joy

An obituary dated April 1844 Sydney New South Wales details the death of Catherine Jones in Newcastle upon Tyne on 19th Nov 1843. Obituary states she was friend and devoted follower of John Knox. Can anyone advise if there are any newspaper archives which would give me more information on my 4xG grandmother or suggest where I might find her burial. Regards Shala J from Australia
