Is it possible to find details of a UK couple who got married in Antigua?  Are there separate indexes for wedding abroad?
Thanks in advance.

The Common Room / father deceased on marriage certificate?
« on: Wednesday 04 April 07 13:39 BST (UK)  »
If bride or groom's dad was deceased at the time of marriage, was there any obligation to put deceased after his name? Could he have died and the word 'deceased' not be included on the certificate?
I have a bride's dad whom I thought died in 1838 not being shown as deceased in 1843 on his daughter's marriage certificate.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Watts family of Camberwell
« on: Tuesday 13 March 07 09:03 GMT (UK)  »
A long shot but has anyone come across the Watts family shown in 1901 at 57 Bournemouth Road, Peckham, Camberwell, London in their research? Dad Edward E (31, furniture remover) and mum Elizabeth M (30) are shown with children
Edith E (11)
Edward A (9)
Ethel M (eight)
Rose E (7)
Elizabeth M (6)
Florence B (4)
May N (2)
Elsey P (8mths)

Elizabeth senior was my grandmother's eldest sister. My grandmother was one of 14 children and I think Elizabeth went on to have another 4 daughters and a another son.

Any information gratefully received. Thanks!

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1841 Census - NEAL
« on: Thursday 01 February 07 17:39 GMT (UK)  »
I have
1851
John Neal age 27 born St Lukes
Jane Neal age 25 born Manchester
with son John (7) and Jane (5)
29 Great Saffron Hill, St Peter Finsbury

1861
John Neal age 30 born St Lukes
Jane Neal age 34 born Manchester
15 Union Buildings, St Bartholomew

I realise there are age discrepancies but names and birthplaces fit.

I have been looking for John in 1841, have found a couple that might fit but would welcome some help.
Many thanks.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Re: glass photo?
« on: Tuesday 23 January 07 09:27 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you so much Carolyn and Pete, I can't believe what a beautiful job you've made of the photo and in such a short time too!

Although the glass is cracked, the photo seems quite stable and rigid and I don't think the glass will come away. The whole thing seems bonded together somehow and it would take some force to bend it along the crack.

It's made up of 3 layers, the glass and the photo which are exactly the same size and a card backing which is slightly smaller. Even the card backing seems well and truly stuck!

Thanks Prue. What really puzzles me is that the photos and glass seem bonded together - no bubbles or loose patches visible, but I have no idea how they could be stuck together. Any ideas how to store it would be welcome. It seems a shame to keep it hidden away!

Thanks for all your help. "Perhaps the highest class photographic establishment" - I'm impressed!

The tidy-ups are a real bonus, thank you.

Now all I need to do is find where he fits in to my family tree.
