Perthshire / Dissenting Church Perth MacGregor/Cameron
« on: Monday 11 October 21 15:31 BST (UK)  »
I'm currently stuck at my ancestors Robert MacGregor (b. Abt 1781) and May Cameron (b.1781) who were married on 12th November 1802 by David Sangster minister of the dissenting congregation in Perth.
Robert is recorded as a weaver and May as the daughter of Daniel Cameron Slater both of this Parish.

Their daughter Isobell MacGregor (GGG Grandmother) was born 9th Dec 1803 and baptised 11th Dec 1803 by the David Sangster minister of the dissenting congregation in Perth.

I haven't been able to find any further information on Robert or May and have no idea really what the dissenting church was.

If anyone could explain the dissenting church to me and where I might look for more information? I would very deeply appreciative.

Many Thanks, Deb

Just to add to the previous post, i have download the 1901 census for Bowmore/Kilarrow for Neil Caskie and family, this is the only caskie family being returned during the search.

1901 census, Kilarrow, Jamieson St

H - Neil Caskie, 38 Farmer  , b. Kilarrow
W - Maggie Caskie, 25, farmers wife , b. Kilarrow
D - Katie Caskie, 2,                    , b. Kilarrow
S - Thomas Caskie, 4 months    , b. Kilarrow

However, another birth search on Scotlandspeople for Thomas Caskie gives no results, therefore is it possible Scotlandspeople are missing birth records for the Island ?

According to general belief and wikipedia Donald Caskie was born Bowmore, Islay 1902

However scotlandspeople has no record of this birth, in fact according to scotlandspeople there were no Caskie, Caskey or Cask* births in Argyll between 1901-1903, now either popular belief is wrong or scotlandspeople is faulty.

Can anyone shed some light on this ?

Hi everyone

I am researching my Campbell ancestor's from Tyree and would love to hear from anyone else researching these names in this area; also of interest is the surnames Sinclair, McPhaiden/ McFadgen and McLean from Tyree, Argyll.
