Limerick / Re: William Browne policeman

I can see this is an old message Edna but can I help in any way?  I am the great grandson of Mary Ellen Brown and Gerald Martin Flynn.  In the 1911 census the widow is Gerald Flynn's mother Mrs M Flynn.  Sarah Browne is the sister of Mary Ellen Flynn (nee Browne)

Andy

Hi Andy,
I did this research for my daughters friend from Flynn family living in Liverpool, it has been quite some time since I looked at this research but I can probably put you in touch with the family if you want to send me a personal message with contact details.

I will try and make contact with Selly Oak later today as he has a really good tree, I don't have what he has as I just do direct lines so I will see if he can help you further.

There is a book about the area with photo's which has been posted on this site before by the Author so try finding it in the search box under Rhosneigr, also post one or two more messages so you can then be contacted by PM

Hello Phil,

Its been a while since I looked at the tree but what would you like to know.
You need to post three messages on the board before you can use the PM system (personal message)

FindMyPast has India Office records now but some are still a bit sketchy and the 100 year rule exists because of Familysearch promises.
It may be worth a look

I too have a person born India but no registration or Baptism for him though his two siblings have baptisms in India, I think he was possibly born at sea and baptised aboard ship but have never found a record of his Birth other than he states British Subject born India, the others were also born Allahabad, both parents were British and were on the railways

Thank you for all this valuable information and I can now set my records straight in the knowledge I have got my Grandfathers correct record for India and the WW1 Arthur is definitely not mine.

Hi Edna

Ady is right. They are different men. The one serving in the Liverpool Regiment during the Boer War gave his DoB as 1871. The ASC man from WW1 was born c1878. Also, the WW1 form gives the answer 'no' to any previous military service.

The Boer War veteran had older siblings Edward and Lily, and both his parents were dead by 1889. He is a widower living in Bootle in 1911. And his daughters do not match the children of the WW1 man.

Ken

Would have liked a reply just to confirm or deny if this is My Grandfather.
Perhaps other people may like to comment.

Family History research is such an ordeal and people really need a confirmation of their findings when others make it plain we have the wrong information.

Ken I think Ady was referring to the photogrph, but you are saying that the Man Arthur Lloyd in WW1 is not the same man as in the 1911 cesus my Grandfather had children Lily, Beatrice, Mary, Isabella, I thought maybe he had joined up again giving a different age to get in.
Can you tell me more information on the Man in the WW1 record as researching military is new to me. He also was a Clerk which made me think he was my man.

I really need to be sure on this one as it has taken me many years to research this family as there is so little information on them.
