Guisborough museum have no info on the jugs.  I am in the process of moving home and contacted them in respect of several items of interest (Guisborough people and the Anchor Inn), which they have assured me they would like to have, however, I am not in the UK and the cost of shipping said items, is, I'm afraid too prohibitive.

When the dust has settled (figuratively) I will  have a look at the Northern Echo online you mention.

Many thanks

I really don't understand why when an enquiry is made (with an offer to share information), the request is more than fully responded to yet not one word in reply after seven months  to even say it was received.

Thankfully this has not been a previous experience for me, I have always found rootschatters friendly and so very very helpful , thank you to all you wonderful RC from whom I have over the years received so much valuable help.

Just felt the moment may give someone a stab of conscience

Hi, my great grandfather was John 1815 twin to Janet!
He married twice.
1) Jane Hall - my great grandmother
2) Ann Lumsdon

John and Jane had four children.

Mary Ann 1841,  James 1843 (my grandfather), Williamson 1845, John 1848.

Jane died of cholera in 1849

James married Mary Ann Fell.  They had twelve children .

William was the first born of John P and Mary Winstanley, he is interred in Tundergarth Churchyard to the right of John and Mary's lair.

There is also another child Margaret born c1809

I would be interested to hear further of your husband's connection to the family.

Many thanks for reply.  As I recall my mother's cremation (1962) was at Middlesbrough Crematorium.  I wondered if that was renamed Teesside Crematorium at a later date.

Will have a look at list.
Thank you

Can someone tell me which crematorium would be used for a deceased Guisborough resident in February 1974.
Many thanks

Oh my word!! the thread on genealogy-specialists really does emphasise the convoluted Burnside/s family.  Thanks for the link.  This needs more than one reading.

Many thanks for the article, very interesting.  I am originally from Redcar and would refer to Staithes as Steers and Runsick Bay - no W.  Copy and paste for future reference.  Not sure if Darlington and Stockton Times are on FindMyPast.

The Burnsides are a very convoluted family as mentioned before, up to the present a cousin has been following the line and established who g-grandmother Burnsides belonged to**, I have recently done AncestryDNA (no results yet) so thought I would try and link up the female line.

**daughter of Edward (of Yackly), son of Ambrose (of Yackly), which I believe is Aycliffe (Darlington)

It seemed Ambrose was a popular name in the traveller community of the day,  not that they seemed to travel far, staying in the South Durham North Yorkshire area.

Many thanks for interest and input.

Thank you for replies.  Have just started looking into this family from the female lines as the Burnside/s lines are very complicated with many names dates and places occurring in the same areas at the same times.

I rather think the Elizabeth Harrison, widow, who married Ambrose in 1802 is the same Elizabeth Hull (maiden name), of Stays.  As the entry says "of Yorkshire" perhaps with a previous marriage to Samuel Harrison, Elizabeth had been in service somewhere in Darlington.

Stays - Staithes - Steers?? Perhaps the parish clerk or whoever made the entry wrote what he "heard"

If it is the same Elizabeth Hull born 1766:
1794 marriage to Samuel Harrison Elizabeth aged +-28
1802 marriage to Ambrose Burnsides Elizabeth aged +-36

Elizabeth died 1844 aged 64 looks very tempting but that makes her dob around 1780, she is unlikely to have been the one married to Samuel Harrison.  Then again, would her daughter have really known her age?

From what little I have to date the family seemed to stay around Darlington and later Guisborough, but with Ambrose's occupation he could very well have been anywhere in the Auckland, Darlington area.  I think this is a good example of the confusing names dates and places appearing at the same time.

Many thanks
